I didn't expect Evenepoel to do better than Roglic here. Definitely fulfilling his potential superstar status early if he already wins his first grand tour.

Dang that's the most insane distance I've heard yet. I knew there was some 200 mile running races like Swiss Peaks Trail and Tor des Geants, but I'm not as familiar with the crazy crowd that is iron man(+) triathletes. I'll stick to training for the 28k Zevenheuvelentrail (Seven hills trail) in two weeks. Seven Dutch 'mountains' is enough for me

Yeah the Barkley Marathons are an amazing ultra trail event as well! Even more of a survival and navigation contest than a race. I personally love watching the youtube movies/documentaries some trail runners produce. Somewhere between a nature documentary and a sports race, my two biggest hobbies combined!

I'm fascinated by trail running. I run trails of between 20-30 km every now and then. But then there's people out there running 100 km or even 100 miles in the mountains. This weekend saw the biggest trail race in the world held in Chamonix, France: the UMTB (Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc). Winners of the 100 mile race around the Mt Blanc were Killian Jornet and Katie Schide. But honestly anyone that finishes races like that is a winner in my eyes.

Goed om te horen dat er naast Nimir ook andere namen opvallen. Hij heeft het al jarenlang alleen moeten doen bij de Lange Mannen, maar volgens mij vindt de rest van het team zich de afgelopen toernooien steeds meer in zijn niveau. Overwinning op Argentinië zou dan de achtste finales al binnenhalen als ik het goed zie.

Wow 13 - 4 is a surprising result to read in waterpolo. I believe we've got some young talented girls with Simone van der Kraats (21) and Lola Moolhuijzen (17). PS why is it that strong waterpolo countries on the men's side are barely present on the women's side, like ?

Benieuwd of het doel van de mannen om kwalificatie voor de Spelen te behalen realistisch gaat blijken. Dat ze daar een serieuze gooi naar kunnen doen is op zich al een mooie ontwikkeling natuurlijk. Voor volleybal en handbal eindtoernooien mis ik altijd wel Ziggo Sport, altijd lastig om via twijfelachtige streams een wedstrijd te vinden. En ik voel er ook niet voor om naar Ziggo over te stappen, omdat ik bij KPN juist weer wekelijks eredivisie kijk via ESPN.

Jonker komt op mij wel goed over. Hij was een jaar geleden eigenlijk ook al de voorkeurskandidaat had ik het idee. Ik hoop dat hij iets meer met charisma en leiderschap kan coachen dan Parsons, die op mij meer overkwam als een soort psycholoog en analist.

Het is een druk sportjaar, deze had ik überhaupt niet op de radar! Ik denk dat de halve finale, laat staan directe plaatsing voor Parijs, wel erg veel gevraagd is. Ik hoop dat we niet te hard weggespeeld worden door Frankrijk. Ik denk dat Noorwegen, Zweden en Frankrijk in ieder geval sterkere teams zijn, maar wie weet is er met een goede kwartfinale loting nog iets mogelijk richting de halve finale. Ik vrees dat de Nederlandse vrouwenteams in het volleybal, handbal en voetbal toevallig alle drie in een fase zitten van doorselecteren en aansluiting proberen te houden bij de top, na geweldige resultaten in de periode 2015-2019.

Wat mij betreft ook een zeer goed resultaat deze EK. Naast de individuele fenomenen Bol en Schilder, is er in de breedte ook gewoon heel goed gepresteerd met top 5 prestaties in de estafettes en meerdere vierde plaatsen voor o.a. Visser, Koppelaar en Weerman. Tegenvallers waren er uiteraard ook, zoals het uitvallen van eigenlijk al onze kanshebbers op de meerkampen. Ik hoop dat de positieve flow waar de atletiek zich eigenlijk al sinds de opmars van Dafne Schippers in bevindt, zich ook door vertaalt in de breedte van de sport.

Atletiekavonden met Bol en Klaver op de baan en Sedoc in de studio zijn echt een genot om naar te kijken! Een prachtige estafette gisteren, met ook heel stabiele splits van Saalberg en De Witte. Willen we in Parijs een medaille winnen, dan zullen Saalberg, De Witte en/of Bouma ook echt op de top van hun kunnen moeten zijn. De tijd van gisteren zou in ieder geval zeer concurrerend zijn, alleen de VS zit daar consistent onder volgens mij.

Bol is a national treasure So happy for the other runners as well, they did really well delivering the baton in 3rd position. Finally a medal for Klaver as well, so well deserved!

Sven Kramer and Naomi van As (former field hockey star) recently had their second kid, so it's a matter of time for our Ice Hockey teams! But we're getting really offtopic here I hope our waterpolo U19 boys will have a good development!

I believe a stray dog on ice would be better than our ice hockey teams.

Our 4x400m men are really nothing like their Tokyo versions anymore. I had hoped especially Ramsey Angela would grow more, like Bol and Klaver. And it doesn't help that Van Diepen isn't fully fit either.

We tend to have better national teams on the womens side than the mens side in most team sports: waterpolo, volleyball, handball and field hockey. I guess one factor is also in the general sense a larger share of the boys athletic talent is concentrated in football.

Actually the opposite this time. Farmers are protesting because they don't want to stop destroying the environment...

Heel leuk dat er een goede generatie werpers van 20-25 jaar in opkomst is bij de dames, met Schilder als een prachtige en bescheiden aanvoerder! Hele mooie medaille dit!
