  1. Kipchoge is one of the most inspirational athletes of this age
  2. Busy day today: World championship road cycling Berlin marathon World championship rowing World championship volleyball ( - ) UEFA nations league football ( -) World cup BMX
  3. What an incident filled championship for the Dutch. Bird attacks, mechanicals, broken elbows, nightly arrests. And all that in a team of like 10 people. Overall the two best riders did win both road races. One at the very end of a dominant career, the other just at the beginning of one.
  4. I've been signed up for 'le club' for a while, I believe I also didn't receive a confirmation. There are fairly regular French newsletters though, and that's how I was informed about this updated ticket page. I believe the idea is in the first sales round you can only buy a pack of multiple (three) tickets. And in the second sales round it's only single tickets. And lastly there's complete hospitality packages (probably filled with overpriced sponsored deals...).
  5. My dream itinerary might be a bit too ambitious, but I'd like to go the 2nd week and visit athletics and a few knockout stages: Wednesday 5 Aug: arrival and beach volleybal Thursday: athletics Friday: field hockey (womens final) Saturday: departure The thursday evening athletics session is probably the highest on my wishlist, while the wednesday and friday sessions could be any variety of beach volleybal, volleyball, field hockey or track cycling.
  6. 5th and 6th stage of the World Cup this weekend in Bogota. And the first one in the olympic qualification period that started on 1 August (just after the 2022 world championships). Every race counts now!
  8. The ticket page on the Paris 2024 website has been updated with additional information on the dates. https://tickets.paris2024.org/en/ Lottery for the 'Make your Games packs sales' will open on 1 december. These packs will go on sale using the lottery system for specific timeslots starting February 15th. I can't wait! Question for the more experienced Olympic travellers: are the packs sales a common sales method? I can't find much information about them on the website, only that you can pick 3 sessions from a selection of available events.
  9. I'll go for a top 10 as well, so many great sports: 1. Athletics 2. Road cycling 3. Volleyball 4. Mountainbike 5. Beach volleyball 6. Swimming 7. Handball 8. Field hockey 9. Cycling BMX 10. Triathlon
  10. I am surprised as well, really expected more here after that group stage...
  11. Should I read your post as a bracket, like the winners of each pair face each other in the QF? Or is there another confusing new draw?
  13. A Dutch running talent Niels Laros has just taken Jakob Ingebritsen's U18 European Record on the 1500m with a 3.39:46 in Luzern!
  14. I didn't expect Evenepoel to do better than Roglic here. Definitely fulfilling his potential superstar status early if he already wins his first grand tour.
  15. Not that we can compete with those swimming superpowers, but I noticed the Netherlands is missing here as well.
  16. 3 - 2 Huge win for us! Nimir with another unstoppable game scoring 27 points. We pulled a reverse sweep after losing the first 2 sets and pulled out a 25-27 in the fourth set. Shame I couldn't catch anything live while I was at work.
  17. Dang that's the most insane distance I've heard yet. I knew there was some 200 mile running races like Swiss Peaks Trail and Tor des Geants, but I'm not as familiar with the crazy crowd that is iron man(+) triathletes. I'll stick to training for the 28k Zevenheuvelentrail (Seven hills trail) in two weeks. Seven Dutch 'mountains' is enough for me
  18. Yeah the Barkley Marathons are an amazing ultra trail event as well! Even more of a survival and navigation contest than a race. I personally love watching the youtube movies/documentaries some trail runners produce. Somewhere between a nature documentary and a sports race, my two biggest hobbies combined!
  19. I'm fascinated by trail running. I run trails of between 20-30 km every now and then. But then there's people out there running 100 km or even 100 miles in the mountains. This weekend saw the biggest trail race in the world held in Chamonix, France: the UMTB (Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc). Winners of the 100 mile race around the Mt Blanc were Killian Jornet and Katie Schide. But honestly anyone that finishes races like that is a winner in my eyes.
  21. Thanks for the recap! There's no clear superstar dominating the U23 women this time like Loanna Lecomte and Mona Mitterwallner did in the past two years. I've been following the junior world cups a bit in hopes Puck Pieterse would win some, but they're exchanging blows evenly between Berquier, Pedersen and Pieterse
  22. Wow 13 - 4 is a surprising result to read in waterpolo. I believe we've got some young talented girls with Simone van der Kraats (21) and Lola Moolhuijzen (17). PS why is it that strong waterpolo countries on the men's side are barely present on the women's side, like ?
  23. First game looks like it was a close one. reverse sweep to win the tie 3-2 in the end.
