  2. I'm super impressed by Caspar Corbeau this tournament, with a 100m breaststroke bronze and now 200m breaststroke gold he has really stepped up to the elite level. I'm excited to see how Kamminga Corbeau and Tes Schouten keep developing as a training group to compete for the medals in Paris! Meanwhile Toussaint is still a force to be reckoned with in the specific context of backstroke in a European short course tournament.
  3. You forgot the classic wintersport of Beach Volleyball Pro Tour Finals in the scorching heat of Doha!
  4. Absolute scenes in the Nation's League tonight, what are we watching!?
  5. If I stick to five, I'd say: Athletics 400mH W Athletics 4x400m W Road cycling M race Cross country cycling W race Swimming 100m freestyle W If Femke Bol, Mathieu van der Poel, Puck Pieterse and Marrit Steenbergen all win a medal that would be amazing! I also wanted to include the athletics 400m W, road marathons, rowing w1x, beach volleyball and sport climbing (boulder+lead), but five was not much...
  6. I agree with Bonevacia, absolutely deserves it! Some other candidates in my opinion would be Sharon van Rouwendaal, Marit Bouwmeester, Abdi Nageeye, Roy van den Berg, Margot van Geffen or Eva de Goede. I could also see them going for Menno van Gorp, who is a pioneer and former world champion in Breaking.
  7. The video service on the website was broken for me as well recently, it did not allow me to filter by sport (making it impossible to find anything you're looking for). Luckily the links in this thread still work perfectly. Thank you @hckošice! I've been slowly watching the badminton tournament as something on the side when there's nothing left to see on tv or youtube.
  8. In an earlier thread I made this prediction, if I had to update I would downscale Breaking to 0-1 medal, switch Maike van der Duijn (omnium) for men's Madison and add maybe 1-2 more rowing medals. But for a best case prediction let's add: archery mixed team, Mathieu van der Poel (cross country or road race), rowing M1x and M8-, Sailing Nacra17 (Van der Meer/Bouwer) and a gymnastics medal (Naomi Visser, Sanna Veerman or Sanne Wevers?) For a total of 17-40 medals
  9. Well done @rafalgorka!! It's been great following along your prediction and checking out how my nation is doing in them, almost like a real sport
  10. Another nice bit of Olympic pre-fun! I'm looking forward to watching: Day 1 Saturday 27 July Road cycling time trials Swimming Group stage games of Dutch teams Day 2 Sunday 28 July Mountain bike W Cross-country final Skateboarding W Street final Swimming Group stage games of Dutch teams Potentially: Archery W final, Canoe Slalom W K1 final Day 3 Monday 29 July Mountain bike M Cross-country final Swimming Group stage games of Dutch teams Potentially: Archery M final, Canoe Slalom M C1 final Day 4 Tuesday 30 July Judo W -63kg and M -81kg Rowing semifinals Swimming Group stage games of Dutch teams Potentially: Gymnastics W Team finals, M Triathlon Day 5 Wednesday 31 July Judo W -70kg and M -90kg Rowing M4x and W4x finals Swimming Group stage games of Dutch teams Potentially: W Triathlon, Canoe Slalom W C1 final Day 6 Thursday 1 August BMX Racing quarterfinals Judo W -78kg and M -100kg Rowing W2x, M2x, W4- and M4- finals Sailing Skiff medal races Swimming Group stage games of Dutch teams Potentially: Gymnastics W all-around final, Canoe Slalom M K1 final Day 7 Friday 2 August Archery mixed team finals Athletics BMX Racing finals Judo +78kg and M +100kg Rowing M2-, W2-, LM2x and LW2x finals Sailing Windsurfing medal races Swimming Group stage games of Dutch teams Potentially: Badminton mixed doubles final Day 8 Saturday 3 August Athletics Judo mixed team Road Cycling M race Rowing M8-, W8-, M1x and W1x finals Swimming Group stage games of Dutch teams Potentially: Gymnastics apparatus finals, Archery W finals, Badminton women doubles final Day 9 Sunday 4 August Athletics Road Cycling W race Swimming Group stage games of Dutch teams Potentially: Gymnastics apparatus finals, Archery M finals, Badminton mendoubles final So much to look forward to! Like usually the friday and saturday in the middle of the games are some of the busiest days with everything going on simultaneously. I'll check out the 2nd week schedule another day.
  11. Another improvement of her own national record for Schouten and another victory over Strauch who won silver ahead of her at the world championships.
  12. Not a big list like the others, but I have a few athletes I grew fond of because I watched them live at events in the Netherlands. In Paris I will cheer for: Volleybal Men team and Bartosz Kurek. Javelin thrower Anderson Peters Other than that I am a big fan of Nafi Thiam and Kevin Mayer in the athletics multi events.
  13. Gaby Schloesser is still active in archerg and aiming for Paris 2024 as far as I know. Sadly Steve Wijler on the mens side hasn't had great resultd the past year I believe, so I'm not sure we can medal in mixed doubles again. That silver medal last year was really a great moment for them, they really made it a close contest versus Korea. Also I hope you are right that both Smulders sisters are in the BMX final. Even if they don't medal that will just be a great moment for them.
  14. I think Nika Vos like at Worlds 2023 or a lesser known rower, as I believe the quadruple sculls has more priority at the moment.
  15. And so the Dutch medal hopes end in the Quarters, these are really difficult draws for both pairs. I could see Duda/Ana Patricia taking gold and Ahman/Hellvig taking silver vs Mol/Sorum in the finals.
  16. I don't think we will try De Jong or Youssifou in the double sculls again, at last worlds they were moved to the quadruple sculls and won gold. I think we sort of gave up on trying to beat Bodnar/Radis in the double sculls. Meanwhile I believe Twellaar/Broenink have a big chance of winning gold in the mens double sculls. Overall great predictions though, love reading through these!
  17. Korfball of course! And for the winter Olympics we could add marathon speed skating and cyclocross (which would be a great addition to the Winter Olympics I think!)
  18. I'd say the medal chances to look forward to so far for are: Day 1 - Ellen van Dijk and Demi Vollering (W individual time trial) Day 2 - Puck Pieterse (W cross-country), Arno Kamminga (M 100m breast) Day 3 - no big chances, but potentially Archery men team, Mathieu van der Poel (M cross-country), Maikel van der Vleuten (jumping), Tes Schouten (W 100m breast) Day 4 - Joanne van Lieshout (Judo W -63 kg) Day 5 - Sanne van Dijke (Judo W -70 kg), Marrit Steenbergen (W 100m free), men & women quadruple sculls
  19. Day 6 could be a really great day for the ! We've got at least seven medal contenders in Rowing (M2x and W4-), Sailing (M+W Skiff), Judo (Guusje Steenhuis and Michael Korrel) and Swimming (Tes Schouten in W 200m breast).
  20. That would be great! Maybe the Dutch NOS article was just confusing in its wording then, they mentioned it was picked by the hosts Tokyo and Paris but was not on LA's list as a host. If it becomes permanent that's still technically correct I guess. I hope you're right and I just misread it, thank you!
  21. I haven't seen anyone mention it yet, but apparently sport climbing is out? That was by far my favorite of the new sports and a really great addition to the Olympic Programme. It surprises me as well, cause climbing is practiced a lot in the US and everywhere. Just a huge missed opportunity if climbing gets dropped honestly. This sport deserves 3 seperate medals for speed, lead and boulder.
  22. I think it will depend on the race calendar for her just like on the mens side, if there is a Tour de France femmes before the Games that will be her main focus and I wouldn't see her beating the specialists Dygert, Brown, Van Dijk or Reusser. But who know, she has been grown really strong this year and the last.
  23. For the womens time trial I have a gut feeling Ellen van Dijk is going to do something special. She's currently pregnant and she'll be 37 years old in Paris, but a time trial medal at the Olympics is her final goal before retiring and I think she might be able to win one behind Dygert and Brown.
