  1. Hungarian professional football is restarting with the first matches of the Hungarian National Cup semi-finals on May 23. The Hungarian National League will restart on May 30. All matches will be behind closed doors.
  2. So it looks like professional sport is about to restart in Hungary. After May 4th sports events can take place behind closed doors in Hungary.
  3. European qualifiers are cancelled, these teams qualified based on the final ranking of Euro 2020: + as defending champion France almost missed the WCh, they are the last team to qualify from Euro.
  4. The qualifiers are cancelled, the same teams who participated at Euro 2018 qualified for Euro 2020 (with the two hosts, Denmark and Norway):
  5. In case anyone is wondering, if really make every country ineligible that has participated in TISC at least once, 58 countries will be ineligible. Top30 eligible countries per nominal GDP (I am using GDP because that might be the best indication of how big their music industry can be)
  6. Well, if we allow non-sport games, there's one popular party game that has competitive minigames and it's available on all the platforms, including PC and mobile: Jackbox Games. The party game aspect also means that it's non-gamer friendly, basically anyone can play if they can understand English. And if the players have good internet connection, only one of them have to own the game. As with any party game, it's best played with (and more or less requires) voice chat. https://www.jackboxgames.com/
  7. Sega already announced that they will release it outside Japan on all platforms. They just probably want to release it closer to the games, or maybe they aren't ready with the PC port, so... I think they will postpone it to next year, just like the real Olympics.
  8. Well, all I will say that this most likely won't be the last time that they had a chance to participate in TISC.
  9. I almost forgot to post the other Hungarian "finalists" who were considered for TISC. I came up with an arbitrary rule for my TISC selection: go with a song for Annual that was at least a smaller hit in the country because it should represent the year in Hungarian music, and keep the more obscure songs for Open. Well, still, one of the songs is relatively obscure, because the hit songs were kinda weak/meh in Hungary last year with a few exceptions. Anyway, these were the songs that came close to participating (well, not that close, "Mostantól", the Hungarian entry, sort of had it in the bag after it became a huge hit in Hungary). This was maybe an even bigger hit than "Mostantól" in Hungary, but it was more than one year old by the time of TISC, and I was tired of it. One of the largest Hungarian pop collaborations with many famous artists, including ESC participants Magdi Rúzsa (ESC 2007, 9th), Kati Wolf (ESC 2011, 22th), and Freddie (ESC 2016, 19th), and our top TISC participant Bea Palya (TISC Open 2019, 4th). It was a song made for the documentary about Juli Fábián (the first ever Hungarian TISC participant), who tragically died of cancer 3 years ago, she was only 37 years old. And because I couldn't find many hit songs that I liked, this was also on the final list. It's just fun.
  10. We have reached a new peak of sports: marble racing with "Formula-E teams" and a Formula-E commentator, and it's edited by the Formula-E broadcaster.
  11. PDC Home Tour starts today: https://www.pdc.tv/darts-live-sport-pdc-home-tour-lineup-fixtures-nights-one-to-four The Hungarian SportTV will broadcast it live.
  12. If we use some kind of a multi-round format, maybe it can be contest of artists? Meaning that the users represent an artist, not a country, and in each round they have to chose a different song from artist they represent.
  13. Professional sport will take a very long break, and won't restart for many months, minus maybe a couple of national leagues, so we will either have a special contest, or the site will be pretty much dead outside the COVID discussion, without looking forward to anything in the near future.
  14. Question 1: Would you like to see a once-off special contest to be held this summer with the final being held at some point during the old Olympic schedule? (a) Yes (b) No Question 2: Would you like it to be a themed contest? For example (sports themed, movie themed, instrumental themed, talent show themed, any other themed)? (a) Yes (b) No Question 3: If we have a themed contest, which type of theme do you prefer? Please answe even if you answered "No" to Question 2. (a) Festival of Music style - representing the nations who have not participated in TISC (b) Sports themed (c) Movie themed (d) Instrumental themed (e) Talent Show themed (f) Dance Music themed (g) Dance themed (h) Other theme - please specify I am not sure about (d), it might be hard to find original instrumental music for some. I would limit the talent show to artistic performances, because it's already hard enough to compare those from different fields, we shouldn't mix it with other kind of talents. And for (h), I would also consider the Festival of Music contest, BUT letting users to submit songs from countries that usually participate in TISC, with the one rule being that you can't submit a song from your own country. We would either have a selection process to decide who represents which country, or we simply don't have nations competing, just songs, allowing multiple users to compete with songs from the same country.
  15. And for the Soviet Union and Russia: yes, it's unfair, but these medals should stay separated, because technically they are two completely different countries, and Russia simply didn't compete as an independent country for decades. Same goes for CZE and SVK, or the Yugoslav situation. You can't assign pre-1990 medals to countries that literally didn't exist back then.
  16. Nah, there really aren't "tons" of medals like that. And it's really simple: those athletes won their medals as Hungarians and therefore no other country can claim them. Just like how we can't claim medals won by Hungarians who compete as Romanians or Slovaks for example, because that would obviously be stupid.
  17. And finally, here's just the weirdest thing about the draw: Hungary turned out to be a "turning point" for its Top3 songs ( ) Not counting the Hungarian points, this is how the voting went for these nations (16 countries voted before Hungary, and 21 after it) 11 points from the nations before Hungary, 0.69 PPJ 53 points from the nations after Hungary, 2.52 PPJ 27 points from the nations before Hungary, 1.69 PPJ 64 points from the nations after Hungary, 3.05 PPJ 25 points from the nations before Hungary, 1.56 PPJ 105 points from the nations after Hungary, 5 PPJ Only if China won TISC, Hungary would be the South Carolina of TISC.
  18. I forgot to update with this with the last session's Top5: Evening session 1. 49pts 2. 46pts 3. 43pts 4. 36pts 5. 34pts So China "won" the last two sessions, and Canada was only in the Top5 in the first session (but they were in the Top10 in all 4 sessions).
  19. Here's a stat that wasn't mentioned before: 4 countries managed get Top10 placements in both Open 2019 and Annual 2020: (O2019: 3rd; A2020: 10th) (O2019: 4th; A2020: 8th) (O2019: 6th; A2020: 6th) (O2019: 7th; A2020: 4th) Let's see if one of us can go for 3/3 in Netherlands. If I am not mistaken, the record for consecutive Top10 placements is 5 from Ireland (O2014, A2015, O2015, A2016, O2016), and Lithuania (A2015, O2015, A2016, O2016, A2017).
  20. There's no way that this will happen unless the pandemic won't be stopped by 2021. Both Japan and IOC would lose a lot more money if they cancel the games.
  21. Here's one more idea for a special edition: TISC, but with instrumental music. It would be interesting to see a contest full of entries like Croatia's Open 2019 song.
