  1. Interesting. Julie lost the fight to qualify in the laser to his compatriot. The finn class is a bit different, yet similar enough that a person can transition to it. If he had more time to train I would call him the favourite. I guess we'll know once the races begin.
  2. Loving the crowd at BC Place. The expectation was to get 20k people per day, but in the end 30k came. Canada needs a huge win against Russia in order to reach the cup quarters though.
  3. Thanks, sometimes athletes that could qualify drop out due to lack of funds.
  4. Will there be a third place match or will the loser to the winner just qualify?
  5. We are definitely the underdog, but we're already qualified in aquatics so it's okay.
  6. Yay, our quest to qualify in 27/28 sports continues, next up boxing. Canada, the most average team in sports
  7. Still better than Papua New Guinea getting a free quota in the Oceania qualifier. This is what happens when there is a 2 athletes per gender limit in a four per gender event.
  8. Too bad for Honduras, this was probably their best shot at qualifying an individual without invitations (maybe they can in athletics).
  9. Iran has previously given up a gold medal to avoid going up against Israel so I doubt it would change now. The only way I can see it happening would be if the athlete goes against the wishes of the nation.
  10. I'm surprised the refugee team didn't participate here. I know there were a few reports of a couple from Brazil thinking about it.
  11. Big chance for Honduras to qualify in the women's +67kg. Hopefully Canada can qualify today (the draws in general are pretty good)
  12. Hopefully we can qualify in taekwondo, right now it's our least likely sport to qualify to the Olympics (minus handball)
  13. I'm no expert, but unless the Ukraine athlete is missing a result it looks like Egypt qualified
  14. Found it, she got 80 points for her performance at the 2015 African Track Championships, which I assume is an event which gives Olympics points since other nations got points for their 2015 continental champs
  15. Flipping backwards she had 80 points before the 2016 African Champs. Going backwards she had those 80 points since before the Feb 23 2015 update and the website won't let me go back anymore.
  16. It's weird though, she's listed with 200 points, but looking into the profile it only lists the African Championship in which she only got 120 points. Also if you add Ukraine's points she should have 179 points
  17. You are correct the UCI has not added the sprint of keirin points for either men or women. As for Great Britain. Despite qualifying 16 athletes they will only send 15. Likely one of their women will compete in both the sprint and keirin.
  18. Rankings have been posted. It looks like Egypt qualified over Ukraine in women's sprint.
  19. The drug was only placed on the watch list in 2015 and she’s been taking the drug for over a decade for a condition which she has. Did she or her coach know it could enhance her performance? We may never know, but I feel it was more of an added benefit than the primary reason as to why she took it. Regardless she should be punished now that it is a banned substance. Just like in law you can’t claim ignorance and hope to get out of it.
  20. I think results should be posted, but not as a mandatory thing. So basically they're posted because people want to, not because the admins have to.
  21. There's no specific date, but the first ones will probably be awarded in April. As for shooting the tripartite is quite simple. Right now there are 20 tripartite nations with MQS fighting for 24 spots. The main question is whether or not the nation applied for one.
  22. Thanks, IAAF doesn't post "almost qualified" times for marathons anymore so it is hard to find them.
  23. I guess it depends on your definition of sport. Is poker or chess a sport? Does a sport need to be physical to be considered a sport? What about shooting? There isn't much of an argument that you could make for shooting that doesn't apply to the others listed above.
  24. It doesn't help that they give continental and host quotas to an 8 entrant event.
