  1. Why bother having limits if people are just going to be added?
  2. Considering they caught Sharapova almost immediately after the Meldonium ban (she failed her test at the Australian Open, less than a month after the drug was banned) and she's based in the United States this supports my previous point that tennis players are very unlikely to be part of the scandal. Of course this doesn't stop athletes from doping outside of the government helping, but if we're going to accuse them of that then we could accuse all tennis players.
  3. Honestly, tennis is the least likely sport to be affected by this scandal. There's like two ATP and two WTA tournaments in that country. Do the players even stay in Russia for an extended period of time?
  4. The IOC had that rule (Osaka Rule), but it was overturned by the CAS, like most jurisdictions you only get punished once for the crime you commit. This is why I think this will be overturned, assuming someone tries to fight it.
  5. 3. The ROC is not allowed to enter any athlete for the Olympic Games Rio 2016 who has ever been sanctioned for doping, even if he or she has served the sanction. This can easily be overturned, all they have to do is cite CAS's ruling on the Osaka Rule
  6. Not surprised, we'll probably see officials getting banned and then leaving the individual federations to decide if they want a full ban (or something like what IAAF is doing).
  7. The list on the ITF website is the final (unless Russia gets a blanket ban)
  8. Is the women's list only showing men for anyone else?
  9. Here's the report if anyone wants to read it.
  10. Furthermore, the IOC has called on WADA to extend the mandate of McLaren to communicate the names of Russian athletes implicated in the report and the alleged manipulation of the doping tests performed by the Sochi Laboratory to the respective IFs and, where appropriate, to the IOC, in order to "allow them to take swift action". This will be interesting and will likely be Russia's best hope to compete at the games
  11. From what I gather the IOC is suppose to make a decision today on what to do with Russia. My prediction is that they won't be banned (outside of athletics and maybe weightlifting), but we'll see.
  12. It was sarcasm. Honestly I think FINA is waiting for the whole Russia issue to be settled plus they are almost as bad as the International Canoe Federation when it comes to publishing things.
  13. There's been an update on her. It looks like FINA made a mistake in inviting her. Link
  14. That graph will likely push Russia to be banned in weightlifting. As for the other sports Russia will likely avoid a blanket ban, but we could see specific athletes getting banned.
  15. Grenada Corey Ollivierre (men's 100m breaststroke) Link Oreoluwa Cherebin (women's 100m butterfly) Link They are starting to get tough now.
  16. Well at least this makes golf look a bit better
  17. Barbados will send 12 athletes No 110m hurdlers qualified at the trials it seems
  18. A chaperone is someone who watches someone overall. This could be due to her age (she's 18) or her religion (Sierra Leone majority are Muslim, though usually it would be with a man) or perhaps for safety if she hasn't done much international travel.
  19. Another Zika related casualty it seems. Must be embarrassing for ITF since they just published an article about him.
  20. True, but I wouldn't be surprised if New Zealand's Olympic Committee doesn't know that. Wrestling is almost non-existent in that country so I doubt there are many experts outside of the wrestling federation, which would prefer to have him compete in order to increase exposure for the country.
  21. Well New Zealand's standard, in general is that the athlete needs to show that they are capable of finishing in the top 16. For wrestling it's easy enough, just like how he qualified he can literally do nothing and reach the round of 16, should he get lucky enough with the draw.
  22. Looks like Iraq rejected their quota.
  23. Don't worry athletics is looking to have almost 200 overboard and that's assuming Russia will still be (mostly) banned.
  24. Athletics is in the second half so if Canada has a good/decent first week it may relax them. The pressure will also be on Brianne to medal in heptathlon (unless we get another surprise medal in the 20km walk), which I hope will settle everyone regardless.
