    Lol apparently there are *11* Olympic gold medallists from this event. So more French judokas are going to have Olympic gold medals from Tokyo than Japanese ones.

    Wow, nine individual golds for Japan but they lose the team event to France, who has one individual gold. Insane.

    The single gender version with five judoka teams is def better.

    From the team event, as we all expected. I bet a bunch of people had Japan winning this event in their "most likely gold" predictions... and ya know I may have been one of them D:

    Japan now cannot win the team event without having to go through the lottery tie breaker.

    TBH I think corruption and incompetence from the IWF is an even bigger issue than doping (well, they are linked, part of the reason there is so much doping is because of the corruption within the sport). The IWF is def an F tier world governing body across the board. The only thing they have going is that their sport is entertaining when presented the right way.

    I really hate that this bullshit unfair mixed team event that absolutely shouldn't be in the Olympics because it is an absolutely unfair format is delivering in terms of entertainment.

    The gymnastics podcast I listen to says that based on current form they think Andrade is the favourite on the vault. Very far from a lock though.

    Ya I figured @Dnl and @Maxim Fastovsky were both going to be happy :P Really happy for Muki in particular, it's about time he gets an Olympic medal.

    TBH the scheduling of these final sessions is not ideal. Apparently the ITF wants tennis to be held over eleven days in Paris (instead of nine) and that would probably be a big improvement.
