Both team Tirinzoni and team Schwaller lost in the Swiss championship finals and will not represent the country at the Worlds later this year, wow!

It was also nice to have actual crowds again. I think the Beijing organizers did the best they could given the COVID regulations that still existed in China at the time, but it sure did dampen the atmosphere *a lot*.

Andre Han got a reaction from Vic Liu in How Many Medals do You Expect from Your Nation at the Winter Olympic Games Milano Cortina 2026?
The final result was 5 golds, 4 silvers and 6 bronzes, totaling 15 medals, which basically matched my personal guess. The only difference was in short track speed skating and speed skating. I originally thought there would be 1 gold medal in short track, while it would be difficult to win a gold in speed skating. However, in the end, speed skating created a miracle in the men's 1500m, while short track had its worst performance in history. The performance of other events was in line with my personal expectations based on the competitive situation.
I am very disappointed with the performance of short track. Although the competition in short track is indeed very fierce, it is still somewhat unacceptable to have no gold medals. This is the first time in the 21st century that China has failed to win a gold medal in short track speed skating. After all, in previous Winter Olympics, short track speed skating has always been a major event for China to compete for gold medals. In the next four years, we must regroup and regain the strength to compete with the world's top short track nations.

Guadalajara, the city I live in, as well as other towns in the state of Jalisco, are currently under siege by cartels.
Blocked roads, burnt cars, trucks and buses all around the city streets, plus armed cartel squads through the city.
Guess there’s not going to be repechage matches or even WC after all

Hey everyone , now that the Olympics are over just wanted to make an announcement that I'll be taking a break from posting on Totallympics for the most part, and watching sports. Mentally these games have broke me in so many ways, and I need time to reset. Not sure for how long, at least a week, but I'll be back for the Paralympics.
I thought taking time to reflect over the past week and a half, it would make Grondin's silver feel better, it didn't at all. I still think about it all the time and it hurts. Just upset, frustrated, and disappointed that he was a photo finish away from gold... again, and I'd trade half of our medals for the colour to be changed.
Not to mention Canada only won 21 medals, 5-7-9, which is our lowest total since Salt Lake City 2002 with less events, but whatever I got used to it half a week ago...

Great finish for the . Most gold medals ever, and third most total medals ever. Yes, there were some that we left on the table, but we snagged a few that I wasn't suspecting either. I suppose it balances it out in the end.
And , you all should be thrilled. Great games for you! 3rd most golds, and 3rd most total medals!
And with a record-breaking (I think) 30 NOCs (if we include / ) on the medal tally, there are a lot of happy citizens in the world!
And yes, I know there are many that didn't make it...but may we all keep going and look forward to the next games!

From a point of view a group of 17 athletes that walked away with 3 medals, 11 top 8s and 13 top 10s. Which is ok with a country that only has snow at one specific place for roughly 3 months of the year and isnt known for winter sports. The only blemish we got no golds which is a bit of a disappointment considering we got 2 last time round. But a lot more place getters, in that aspect it's never been better. We have lots of talent in the park and pipe but would love to diversify a little bit and grow the team. But other than that I thought Australia did really well and Brazil. So it's nice to see the Southern Hemisphere get medals, hopefully more in the near future.

Eileen Gu only learned of her grandmother's passing after the competition today. Her grandmother had a profound impact on her life. I hope she has more time to calm her emotions and that we will see a happy her again soon.

Andre Han reacted to Sindo in Totallympics after Milano Cortina 2026 - Will you keep visiting Totallympics before the next Olympic Games?
The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics have now officially come to an end. These were the fourth Winter Olympic Games since Totallympics was founded, and the eighth Olympic Games overall, including the Summer editions!
I truly hope you enjoyed these Games, and even more, that you enjoyed experiencing them here on Totallympics!
The Olympic period always brings strong emotions, both positive and negative. Passion is what makes sport special, but sometimes frustration can spill over into comments on the forum. I hope no one felt hurt or upset by other users’ posts. I did my best to act quickly by editing or removing provocative comments, but I may have missed something along the way. If anyone felt offended by a post that was not removed, I sincerely apologize.
Now, after a well-deserved rest, it’s time to look ahead. Our focus shifts to Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympic Games, and the road has already begun: the first direct Olympic qualification event starts in less than two weeks with the 2026 World Baseball Classic (check out our 2026 Qualification Calendar for all the details!), and many other indirect qualifications have already begun.
Some clubs were extremely active during the Games, and I hope you enjoyed following the Olympics together with your compatriots. Now it’s time to switch into “LA28 mode”! Please make sure your club includes a dedicated section for Los Angeles 2028, and feel free to start opening threads related to qualification events and early predictions. This is a great opportunity to attract new users, and whenever new members join Totallympics, I will make sure they are invited to their respective national club.
To create new sections or reorganize threads within a club, you need to be an “owner” of that club. But don’t let the name intimidate you, it’s much simpler than it sounds! Each club can have multiple owners, and it does not require any special skills or a significant time commitment. If you would like to help organize content, create new sections, or manage threads more efficiently, just contact me and I will gladly grant you the necessary permissions.
Also, if anyone would like to change their username, this might be the right time to do so, whether it’s a small adjustment (a letter, a number, capitalization) or a complete change, feel free to contact me. I can update it for you without the need to create a new account.
And finally, a classic post-Olympic question: Will you continue visiting Totallympics on the road to LA28?
Thank you to everyone who contributed during these weeks. The Games may be over, but the journey on Totallympics continues. I look forward to seeing you around the forum very soon!

That's for sure. There were opportunities both in Tokyo and Paris. The main thing is that track cyclist Valente staged the same scenario in both Tokyo and Paris, overtaking at the last moment. But I think the United States missed too many gold medal opportunities in Paris and Tokyo, which created some chances for us. In Tokyo's athletics, I think the US didn't meet expectations, and in Paris, their swimming gold medals didn't reach double digits.
One day that left the deepest impression on me was the 3rd day of the Tokyo Olympics, July 26th. China had many chances to win gold medals, but on that day, our ace events—weightlifting, table tennis, and diving—all lost. I was really extremely disappointed that day.
In the women's volleyball at the Tokyo Olympics, China was still a strong contender for the gold medal, but our form at the Olympics was strange. We didn't make it out of the group stage. In the end, people were saying that if China and the US had played in the final, and that match had decided the top spot in the medal table, it would have been really thrilling.

Personally, I think should target around 10-13 gold medals in 2030 and strive to reach the top 3 in the medal standings.

There were news reports about that incident, but I think most people no longer care. There isn't much difference between third and fourth place, and there won't be more hatred or anything like that just because the United States took its place.

Congratulations to China for clinching the fifth gold medal on the final day to wrap up the event! Although many opportunities were missed in the early stages of the competition, the Chinese team performed brilliantly in the last five days. The gold medal tally has equaled the best result from Vancouver, and the total number of medals is also the best ever achieved overseas. Keep up the good work in four years' time!

Italy made great performance of these home games- it`s true, but it was really the last chance for such a result and we so great taking advantage of it. But, in next 4 years, we'll face a massive decline, as most of our leaders are well over 30 and will be leaving: Wierer, Goggia, Brignone, Pellegrino, maybe Vittozzi, Fontana, Lollobrigida, Ghiotto, etc. A few youngsters will remain, like Franzoni, Sighel, and Giacomel, but that certainly won't translate into 30 medals in 2030; In 99%, it won't even be into 20 medals. At best, we'll return to the 2022 level of around 15-17 medals. Speed skating? There's still no indoor track and if Marchetto leaves, everything could fall apart, like in 2010-2015. Short track? It's a big unknown, as Sighel isn't see a so great talent, like Fontana and the competition is very strong. Fortunately, we finally have our own track in luge/bob and skeleton, but Germany and Austria will probably still dominate there. Once again, respect to Italy for their excellent results in 2026, but the future looks rather black- much bleaker than, for example, Canada, in my opinion.

HOMAN WINS OLYMPIC BRONZEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! With their best game of the tournament by a mile, barely missed any shots
This has been my favourite medal of the Olympics for Canada, obviously them losing the semifinal was tough, but like Miskew said in her post-game interview while in tears "If you had told us at the beginning of the week (when we started 1-3) that we would've been battling for a medal, we wouldn't have believed you", well believe it, you didn't only battle for a medal, you did win a medal and now you guys are Olympic bronze medalists
Even more happy for one of the greatest skips to ever play the game of curling, Rachel fucking Homan. She's got so much flack for her failing to make the playoffs in both Pyeongchang 2018 and Beijing 2022, and after the bad start here (it wasn't entirely her fault, just keyboard warriors), so for her to win that Olympic medal and to prove to Canadians (she doesn't need to prove anything though) that she does have what it takes to medal here, that just means so much to me
You ladies have made Canada so proud
