  1. Misses a fourth late on, which is probably curtains, barring 3 perfect rounds and some odd things going on with the others. Whittle is technically 2nd reserve for the 100m. Could get through if some of those ahead don't fancy the 100m dogfight. Tough decision for Richards - he's good enough to get into the final but it's not a lock. But doing that means that he risks being more tired for the relay. That's assuming the relay gets there. A small amount of risk resting both Duncan and Matt this morning, although looks like other nations have rested people too.
  2. You say that but remember Tokyo, where we had 8 boats in the final and 6 of them came 4th....
  3. Nathan Hales scores a perfect 25 in round 4 to keep himself firmly in the hunt for the final. One round left and there's a 7 way tie for 6 places. Another 25 from Hales would guarantee him at least a shoot off for the final. Depending on how the others shoot, a 24 might be okay but obviously not guaranteed. 23 or below almost certainly knocks him out.
  4. Lucy Hall starts off with a 25, one of only six women to do so. Still very early days obviously.
  5. Question of the Day Artistic Gymnastics: Can we get a medal? No Badminton: Does Gilmour win a game? Yes Canoe Slalom: Is CLARKE in the top ten? Yes Cycling BMX Freestyle: Is REILLY in the top five? Yes Equestrian: Our the TEAM in the top three at the end of the day? Yes Hockey: Do they win? No Judo: Does Renshall fight in the evening session? No Rowing: Do they make the final? Yes Rugby Sevens: Do we come 5th? No Sailing: Is WILSON in a medal position by the end of the day? Yes Shooting: Do either of our MEN make the final? No Swimming: Gold for the RELAY team? Yes Tennis: Do the MEN'S DOUBLES team go through? No Triathlon: Medal for YEE? Not today lolz...but yes in general
  6. It would have been one of the more shocking (in a good way) performances thus far. Even getting to the QFs was a better performance than the team had been putting on during the season. A generally solid day from . I had us getting 7 medals and we ended up with 6. 10 medals through 3 days is the best return in my lifetime. And we've still got many of our traditional medal winning sports to come. No reason to despair yet.
  7. I would prefer to have fast times *and* competitive races. But if I'm only going to get one, I'll choose races any day of the week. However, if the issues with the pools are as true as people are claiming - and I'm not smart enough about the physics to doubt those saying that - my only worry is that the waves might be actually impacting the swimmers in certain lanes more. Which doesn't necessarily then give the best swimmer the best chance. It might be giving more 'limited' swimmers a better chance because of the luck of things like lane draws.
  8. I mean, he's writing them anyway based on their actual swimming. I'm just worrying about the more practical actual worries. Women 7s team fall 17-7 to the US. Gave a solid account of themselves but just outmatched.
  9. The biggest threat to our 4x200m chances is a spread of COVID through the team. Respectable from both Evans and Morgan. Nothing to be ashamed of with those performances.
  10. But I thought our chances in it disappeared after the SFs yesterday?
  11. Gestin on another planet from everyone else. Still, another fine medal for
  12. Pretty much. We start as underdogs but, in theory, it's not a bad draw. Probably the best we could have hoped for. Getting to the QF was already a success. Anything more would be a huge bonus.
  13. If you think that we have a serious medal chance in the mixed medley, you're a braver soul than me.
  14. Given your recent record in predictions, this means we're set for a record swimming meet... Joking aside, and assuming that more swimmers don't come down with something, this impacts our medal chances in one event, and even that event we were not a medal favourite. Hardly a disaster, yet.
  15. That's from the section before, which the TV coverage didn't show. When Tom had suddenly caught Victor. I wondered what had happened and now we know. But what it shows me is that Victor was right on the limit - as was Tom! - and was capable of making the slight misjudgment because of it. Which is what happened on 'the pass' - he left the line open not thinking that Tom would go for it. Then when he realised that Tom *was* going for it, he tried to close the gap too late and then had to take avoiding action. Unfortunate for him, but just a racing thing for me.
  16. He's won from bigger gaps and he's won by bigger gaps when he's been in front. Clearly he could have another mechanical. But so could they. It's far from over.
  17. I wouldn't be writing Tom off just yet.
  18. Womens 7s team make hard work of it, but beat 26-17 to qualify for the QFs in all but the most technical sense (it's possible that they could be knocked out but it would take a crazy set of results).
  19. We shoot up to 7th in the medal table, or joint 6th if you prefer the NBC medal table.
  20. Kwiato has pulled out of the RR for Stanisław Aniołkowski replacing him.
  21. I'm sure Laura would rather have the gold in the bag and the potential of more than the other way around!
  22. Did we ever work out where the 15 point penalty for Ros came from in the CC? She would be right in the top 10 going into the individual herself without it.
