Rakhi’s 214 is her equal best (not counting national championships). She has outside chance of making it to Tokyo. But, even if she qualifies it won’t matter much.
Interesting, I had analysed Chinese possibilities and concluded it is in their best interest to send athlete in 49kg. 10kg difference in 49kg is huge snd it is a sure shot gold for them. But, I missed possibility of PRK not sending Ri in 49kg.
At present it seems following is situation of PRK:
49kg: fight with Mirabai for Silver/Bronze
55kg: no chance
59kg: fight with Taipei for Gold/Silver
64kg: clear silver
76kg: clear Gold if CHN doesn’t send
87kg: clear silver
+87kg: fight for Silver/Bronze with USA if CHN doesn’t send and fight for Bronze if CHN sends.
So, yes there is a very real possibility that North Korea won’t send a lifter in 49kg.

I searched a bit and in fact there will be "seeding system" for all Olympic qualifiers.
but it will be different
https://unitedworldwrestling.org/article/important-updates-ranking-series-olympic-qualification-events
they are going to use 3 tournaments, 2019 Worlds, 2020 Continental Champs, one Ranking series tournament in 2020. and you have to participate in two of them to be eligible to be seeded !!!
and I don't think this is going to help much. for example Iran most probably will try different wrestlers for the Olympic Qualifiers and even if they send the same wrestler, this is highly unlikely to send the same guy to the Asian Championship and/or a ranking event short time before the Olympic Qualifier. I think most of top wrestling nations will do the same. it just doesn't make sense . we may end up having Chinese Taipei as top seed ! (as the only wrestler participated in two of these 3 events)
and what's the point of being "seeded" when other top guys are unseeded. you still can get them right in the first round
the article says only top 2 will be seeded for the Olympic qualifier but I think Olympic itself will be the same as the WCh. top 4 will be seeded.
as for Asia, let's just hope Kazakhstan doesn't do the drawing

there are some countries in the world, I never want them to host anything because they are not ashamed of any kind of cheating to get results. Kazakhstan is one of them.
yesterday Bajrang got robbed blatantly and today they did the same to our 70kg wrestler. in a normal world the score should be 13-6 in favor of Emami but they made him lose 7-6 !!! I'm not talking about 50/50 calls or small mistakes. that was blatant cheating. Kazakhstan normally has a mediocre freestyle team but now they are the 2nd best team behind Russia !!! mostly because they get dream draw and also because they got supports from the refs. this is really amazing all of Kazakh wrestlers are in the best part of the draw. I will make a summary at the end of the competition.
finally Karimi made it to the final , it will be against his arch rival Cox. he lost to this Russian wrestler once in the worst experience of his life. he was leading the match he was told from the corner "Ali you have to lose" and he lost. I'm sure he feels better now after destroying that Russian wrestler 10-0.

Are you kidding me? Sindhu just won WS title at World Championships. Sai Praneeth won Bronze. Satwik/Chirag won Thailand Open just last month. We had bad 12-18 months in Badminton but past 1 month has been amazing.

Unless she misses a significant portion of the remaining season due to injury, she will qualify easily. In fact, I am pretty sure she would be seeded among top 8 at Olympics.

Since the discussion is currently on TV Shows, if anyone wants to watch something AWESOME but still different from the well known American shows, try the South Korean tv show The Genius.
Available here - https://www.reddit.com/r/TheGenius/comments/70jog1/links_to_all_subbed_episodes_of_the_genius_s14/
It is my ALL TIME favorite show and nothing else even comes close (and I watch a LOT of TV).
It is a show about people playing different and highly interesting cerebral/social games, which should translate very well for Totallympians with our shared love of sport and competition.
The only slight issue is that it's in Korean, means you need to follow the english subtitles. Every one who watches the genius has only 1 of 2 reactions - (1) It is AWESOME or (2) I cudn't handle the subtitles. But it's also the first show I ever watched with subtitles, so it's not that difficult and as long as u can handle them, u'll be in for a treat.

Nah - India is one of the ones missing. We use water, not toilet paper to do our business

Also: pros should be able to enter the Olympics if they want to, otherwise it's just a B-competition like the football.

Thanks for the magnificent analysis. I just watched the match with the analysis by the side just to understand the rules better.
So one question - with 30 seconds left to go in the 2nd period, JPN clearly took down Russia onto his back, and both of them were on their feet when action began. So why was it a 2 and not a 4 (JPN coach clearly thought it was 4). Is it because JPN didnt have control with the Russian on his back ?? (Also, in this action, the final result after review WAS 2-1 in favor of Japan, and not 2-2. Russia got the extra point because of a failed challenge from Japan).
Also, in the end when they put the Russian in par-terre, shudnt the clock have been reset for 4 seconds to 7 seconds. It didn't matter much but shud have been done right ??

Chamizo is a 2time World Champion and an Olympic medalist. he is also star of the past but I think he is still small for this weight. he will get better in next couple of years.
I think Chamizo had tactical mistakes in both semifinal and final. he could win the gold instead of going home empty handed

perfect coverage from UWW. no sound for some mats. no scoreboard for some mats. you just have to pray for them to go to the left corner of the mat and maybe you can see the scoreboard. even though it's hard for me to even watch the rest of the competition after Yazdani's defeat.

It is actually very annoying for many of us Indians as well.
The thing is that a large number of our wrestlers and boxers come from the state of Haryana.
Now I am no expert in the subject, and somebody can correct me if I am wrong, but from what I understand, many people in Haryana believe in never ever using your surname with your name because your surname identifies your caste.
There has been some unfortunate caste-based violence in the past in Haryana and, as a result, many believe that the best way to avoid it is to just never ever reveal your caste as it doesn't matter. In fact, I think some of the big boxing and wrestling stables in Haryana actually have a rule that you are not allowed to use your surname.

Yes, your point about 2-year period field for juniors in very important. I think for seniors we need to consider 10 year period as average. So, conversion from junior medals to senior medals has to be around 1/5th or so. Therefore, 24 medals at junior world champiionships would mea around 5-6 medals at senior level. That was our level already at London 2012.
Another point is we had 8 medals in youth olympics 8 years back. None of those medalists have gone on to get anywhere close to being medalists in olympics and that 8 medal haul got converted to only 2 medals in Rio 2016.
So, we have to be cautious about extrapolating these youth olympic medals and say that we will go to 10 medals level in 2024 olympics. First up I want us to get back r 6 medal level at Tokyo and then see how much we can improve over it by 2024.

kapil857 got a reaction from MHSN in Asian Games 2018
Strange discovery today on the Asian games website. For days, the site has been showing match timings off by half an hour for me - so a match scheduled for 10 am INA time is shown at 10.30 am !! What's worse - sometimes the time is half an hour ahead & sometimes half an hour behind
BUT...if I change the time zone on the computer from Indian time zone of GMT + 5.30 to say Bangladesh time zone of GMT + 6, then the site starts showing the correct timings !! It still shows INA standard time, but at least it is correct...
So the site basically can't handle a time zone of the form GMT+5.30 (India) or GMT+5.45 (Nepal) - but it can handle hourly time zones like GMT+1, GMT+2 etc...so only few countries like India, Iran, Afghanistan and Nepal face the weird issue - no issue for others..
Unfortunately, that would also mean that the issue is highly unlikely to be fixed - as faced by only few countries. So the only for us poor Indian or Iranian folk is to actually change the time zones on our computers in order to be able to follow with some sanity (After changing the time zone, I changed the time itself again by half an hour so my computer keeps showing the correct Indian time)...

Has anybody noticed that the timings put up so far on the schedule and results page on the official site are WRONG by half an hour ?? And what's worse, it's sometimes half an hour ahead and sometimes half an hour behind.
For eg, the JPN v HKG basketball match today starts at 4 pm indonesia time but is listed at 4.30 pm on the site. On the other hand, the COR v INA match starts at 6.30 pm but is listed at 6 pm !!
Thankfully, wikipedia has the correct timings atleast so far

Hey guys...is live streaming at vidio.com working for anyone ??
I can play the replays of all the events on vidio but when playing the actual live stream, I simply get the message "Error Loading - No Playable Source found".
I tried without VPN as well as with Indonesian VPN (though only HOLA) but same result both times.
Is anybody else facing the same issue?? And does anybody know how to fix it ??
