  1. Pan Am Games (high priority), Swimming WC Budapest, Freestyle Skiing WC Chur, Short Track Speed Skating WC Montreal, GSOC Hearing Life Tour Challenge, ATP/WTA tennis, NHL (Canucks), BWF Denmark Open, Triathlon WC Tongyeong, BPT Challenge Goa, and some Volleyball club season action.
  2. Men’s Medalists Gold- Ondřej Perušič/David Schweiner Silver- David Åhman/Jonathan Hellvig Bronze- Michal Bryl/Bartosz Łosiak Women’s Medalists Gold- Kelly Cheng/Sara Hughes Silver- Ana Patricia Silva Ramos/Eduarda Santos Lisboa Bronze- Taryn Kloth/Kristen Nuss
  3. Clancy/Mariafe are the reigning Olympic silver medalists, and are a top ten team, how was a win against them gonna be “easy” ? (Not unless you’re Duda/AP ) I feel bad for Menegatti, she carries her team. Wonder what she’d be able to do with a better defender. Same with Latvia, but to a lesser extent. Samoilova has moments of brilliance, but sometimes struggles to sideout, and can also become error prone during crucial moments (Cheng/Hughes QF: *11-13, Samoilova missed serve, and then she gets aced to end the match). Graudina rarely has bad matches, always a beast on sideout.
  4. You’re actually right. She made the French Open SF in 2020, but with an easy draw. I’ll replace her with Muchova.
  5. There’s gonna be upsets, unfortunately, but I’m really hoping the podium will consist of three of Casper Ruud, Daniil Medvedev, Novak Djokovic and Rafa Nadal. Not unless FAA somehow manages to find his way onto the podium, but he’s been dreadful this year so that’s not gonna happen
  6. Still don’t think Zheng will finish in fourth. If anyone from China were to come that close to a medal it would be either Qinwen Zheng (women’s singles) or Xu Yifan/Yang Zhaoyuan (women’s doubles).
  7. Ignore: M 100-KG Turboyev. Also, don’t see Zhang Zhizhen placing fourth in men’s tennis. @rafalgorka Day 7 (August 2, 2024) Archery- Mixed Team Gold- South Korea (Kim Woo-Jin/Lim Si-Hyeon) Silver- United States (Casey Kaufold/Brady Ellison) Bronze- Netherlands (Steve Wijler/Gaby Schloesser) Germany (Michelle Kroppen/Florian Unruh) 4th. 8. Men’s Gold Medal Match Perušić/Schweiner v. Åhman/Hellvig Men’s Bronze Medal Match Crabb/Brunner v. Bryl/Łosiak I’d be surprised if Poland doesn’t win their first World Championships medal here. Women’s Gold Medal Match Hughes/Cheng v. Duda/Ana Patricia Women’s Bronze Medal Match Kloth/Nuss v. Clancy/Mariafe
  9. To be fair, none of your pairings were favoured in their matches. IMO only Carambula/Ranghieri (against Partain/Benesh) and Menegatti/Gottardi (against Hüberli/Brunner) had realistic chances to win. I wasn’t surprised to see Italy go 0-4.
  10. has qualified their first athletes in handball (women’s tournament) at the African Women’s Handball Olympic Qualification Tournament
  11. Men’s Semifinals Perušič/Schweiner v. Crabb/Brunner Åhman/Hellvig v. Bryl/Łosiak Women’s Semifinals Duda/Ana Patricia v. Clancy/Mariafe Hughes/Cheng v. Kloth/Nuss Mol/Sørum, Mel/Brandie, and Hüberli/Brunner all out on the same day Rooting against Hughes/Cheng for the remainder of the tournament, don’t like Cheng very much (Tokyo 2020 Olympics QF as a prime example). Same for Duda/AP, but to a lesser extent (Big fan of Duda, not so much AP). Ever since they partnered up Duda seems to have lost all her joy.
  12. Jeffrey Whaley and Maxime Chalifour advance to the semifinals at the WC in Bazhong, China! (i believe it’s the first time for both??)
  13. Who do you think will partner with Scheenaard in double sculls?
  14. Men’s Quarterfinals Mol/Sørum v. Perušič/Schweiner Pedro/Guto v. Crabb/Brunner Bryl/Łosiak v. Partain/Benesh Boermans/de Groot v. Åhman/Hellvig Women’s Quarterfinals Duda/Ana Patricia v. Stam/Schoon Clancy/Mariafe v. Humana-Parades/Wilkerson Hughes/Cheng v. Tainá/Victória Hüberli/Betschart v. Kloth/Nuss

  16. I’d be down for the inclusion of compound archery But don’t see the IOC removing skateboarding/artistic swimming from the Olympic programme. If artistic swimming does get axed though
  17. Water skiing, lacrosse, breaking and baseball/softball.
  18. Has there been a team announcement for Cuba yet?
  19. Cuba Athletics: Liadagmis Povea and Leyanis Perez Hernandez (women’s triple jump), Luis Zayas (men’s high jump), Christian Nápoles and Lazaro Martínez (men’s triple jump), Yaime Perez (women’s discus throw), Maykel Masso and Juan Miguel Echevarría (men’s long jump) Boxing: Saidel Horta (men’s 57kg), Fernando Arzola (men’s 92kg), Roniel Iglesias (men’s 71kg), Erislandy Álvarez (men’s 63.5kg) Canoeing: Yarisleidis Duboys/Katherin Nuevo Segura (women’s c2 500m), Yarisleidis Duboys (women’s C1 200m), Fernando Jorge (men’s c1 1000m), Fernando Jorge/Serguey Torres (men’s c2 500m) Judo: Andy Granda (men’s +100kg) Shooting: Leuris Pupo (men’s 25m rapid fire pistol) Wrestling: Oscar Pino (men’s greco roman 130kg), Luis Orta (men’s greco roman 67kg), Gabriel Rosillo (men’s greco roman 97kg) Quick question, has Mijaín Lopez retired? Or is he injured? If still competing, then replacing him with Pino.

  21. Extremely bored (yet again), so I decided to do a day by day preview for Canada’s medal chances at Paris! If I’m missing anything, let me know. Day 5 (July 31)- Penny Oleksiak (swimming- women’s 100m freestyle), Illya Kharun (swimming- men’s 200m butterfly), Josh Liendo (swimming- men’s 100m freestyle) Day 6 (August 1) - Kyle Reyes (judo- men’s -100kg), Evan Dunfee (athletics- men’s 20km race walk), Summer McIntosh (swimming- women’s 200m butterfly), and our women’s 4x200m freestyle relay. Best chance would IMO be Dabrowski/Fernandez in women’s doubles, but don’t see it happening. FAA (not this version), Fernandez (not this version either), and a fully healthy Andresscu should all have chances though. Women’s football medal matches take place from August 9 (BMM) to 10 (GMM). Women’s beach volleyball medal matches take place on either August 9 or 10, dates are still TBD.
  22. Women’s singles (tennis) at the Olympics always produces surprise medalists, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see Swiatek off the podium next year.
