  1. Roman Cechmanek (ice hockey GK) passed away at the age of 52.
  2. Vlhova giving away 100 points in the overall already. Given how Shiffrin hardly ever scores a DNF that's a double bad result.
  3. beat 1-0. The match was stopped for 20 mins in the second half due to a tropical storm
  4. It's official. FIFA didn't allow any replacements even though we tried to manipulate an injury since one of the drinkers suffered a cut around the brow ridge Tournament has started, @hckoĆĄicemight want to know that drew with the hosts 1-1. vs kicks-off at 10:00 am CET tomorrow.
  5. We have ZERO alpine skiing infrastructure to hold an international event in this sport. The Nosal piste is closed since 2009 and was last renovated in the 1980s AFAIK. It went completely out of order after communism fell since the top part is owned by the National Park, the bottom is private land and has several owners and someone else owns the ski lift that I believe isn't working anyway. So yeah, there you have it Jasna would have to host all the alpine skiing but we could host all the ski jumping
  6. Four members of the team have been removed from the squad for disciplinary reasons (drinking alcohol after a warm-up game vs USA last week). FIFA won't allow a special replacement by all accounts so we're gonna participate with 14 field players + 3 GK
  7. CJ Stroud set the rookie single game passing yards record last night (470 yds, 5 TD) in 39-37 win over Tampa Bay. This game also featured the first successful field goal by non-kicker/punter since 2004. RB Dare Ogunbowale (ex-soccer player) kicked from 29 yards.
  8. Just like stated in post #1 it's hard to bet against bearer being anyone else than Iga ƚwiątek - especially the tennis event will be played on clay.
  9. Guess who's back as year end #1? Beat Sabalenka in SF and delivered an all-time beatdown in the Cancun final
  10. When you thought the Fort Worth ghost town was the all-time low, Cancun decided to hold its beer...
  11. Did you see the stands during doubles matches? There were like 20 people watching it. Nobod cares about the doubles except for die-hard fans. And I mean actually WATCHING the damn matches, not checking the scores afterwards
  12. Sabalenka vs ƚwiątek postponed until Sunday after just three games played. The shitshow conitnues. Nobody cares about the doubles so I won't talk about that. Pegula is a HUGE favorite to win it all now since the second finalist will have to basically play four full sets on one day (and we know how the Canadian Open nonsense ended for Samsonova).
  13. Jessica Pegula sweeps Cori Gauff 6-2 6-1 in the first SF. Despite the match barely lasting one hour it still had a rain break
  14. Aryna Sabalenka beats Elena Rybakina in three sets and advances into SF alongside Jessica Pegula. Looks like ƚwiątek vs Sabalenka SF for the YEC #1 (Iga needs to win the whole tournament though). The weather has been a joke with the wind & rain and well, WTA gets rightfully blasted for the terrible YEC schedule for the second year running after the Fort Worth ghost town last season.
  15. Oleg Protopopov (2x Olympic Champion in pairs) died at the age of 91.
  16. IOC really wants to prevent pro-Palestine protests during 2024 SOG? Yeah, good luck with that especially with France having one of the largest Muslim populations in Europe (if not THE largest?) China will jump all over this hypocrisy right away too IMO https://www.dailysabah.com/sports/ioc-warns-protests-at-paris-2024-games-amid-ongoing-gaza-conflict/news/amp
  17. Texas Rangers won the World Series 4-1. Diamondbacks blowing that Game 1 lead proved to be quite critical even though they won game two.
  18. Well, at least there is no bribery among the selection vote anymore Once Saudi Arabia decided to bid die Sache war gegessen Like the Oprah meme, everyone gets to host a World Cup these days, from Paraguay to Saudi Arabia. It's all about the money and football is business more than a sport. Welcome to XXI century.
  19. 49ers lost three in a row so Brock Purdy started looking like a human again and now Seahawks have traded for Giants DL Leonard Williams. Guess they believe they can still win the division with 49ers looking vulnerable out of nowhere. Giants season is basically a wash after they mustered -9 net passing yards vs Jets last night being forced to play Tommy DeVito at QB
  20. WTA Linz has upgraded to 500 status next season. It was to be predicted given how WTA changed the rules and made entry into 250 even less possible for Top 30 players instead of just Top 10 players. There won't be many 250s who make this upgrade but Linz was always tipped to be among them. The only problem is the tournament will be held in late January/February so right after Australian Open.
  21. WTA Elite Trophy final Beatriz Haddad Maia def. Zheng Qinwen 7-6(11) 7-6 (4) YEC Day 1: Jessica Pegula def. Elena Rybakina 7-5 6-2 Aryna Sabalenka def. Maria Sakkari 6-0 6-1
  22. Lucas Braathen (alpine skiing) has retired at the age of 23.
  23. More like Russia diverting attention away from Ukraine IF they supplied arms to Hamas before this attack.
  24. Meanwhile it looks like Alexandria Loutitt has signed a deal with Red Bull so finally some extra money for at least one Canadian ski jumper
  25. Other than Shaq and his backside shake it was probably Tim Duncan's spin & fade off the glass
