I wrote a summary of the eight systems already out here: https://gbgames.sport.blog/2022/04/05/eight-qualification-systems-released-for-paris-2024-more-to-follow/2 points

I was sceptical but at the games I did quite enjoy the Skateboarding and BMX Freestyle, and tbh there's no reason they can't be called sport. That said, I agree the skateboarders in particular are too young, and it's a bit odd that it's being presented as this amazing thing that a 13 year old is competing at the Olympics2 points

Did IOC announced they already published some of the qualifications ? it seems they didn't even here in totallympics we probably wouldn't know if it wasn't for @Vic Liu nice job by IOC, making this a top secret thing I assume only few people in the world know about this right now1 point

According to this, "Tripartite Commission Invitation Places" have been officially renamed to "Universality Places". Love it or hate it? https://stillmed.olympics.com/media/Documents/News/2021/10/2021-10-08-Qualification-System-Principles-Paris-2024.pdf?_ga=2.129229836.1201290215.1649170497-375143742.16198581301 point

Totallympics Annual International Song Contest 2022
Vektor reacted to kungshamra71 for a topic
PORTUGAL As someone living abroad, the annual edition is always a challenge for me as each year i feel i'm getting further away from "what's happening in Portugal", specially in music. Still, and although not a huge fan of this song, i chose it because of what it means: the good relations between Portugal and the other Portuguese speaking countries I have no idea if this is also normal for other nations (like spain, england, france), but i find really cool that whenever any other Portuguese speaking nation is playing anywhere, in Portugal the big majority of people supports those nations (when Portugal gets kicked out of the 2022 World Cup, for example, i will with no doubts cheer for our "povo irmão", Brasil), and the other way around is also true (the celebrations in Angola or Cape Verde when Portugal won the Euro were amazing). I really like this friendship spirit, and i think this song is all about that David Carreira - Vamos com tudo1 point -
[OFF TOPIC] Politics Thread

Well, I still remember the days when Jobbik was called neo-Nazi & anti-semitic party. And now they are supposed to be the lesser evil to Fidesz? No wonder the opposition failed, this was just a power-grab coalition. Those kind of deals hardly work out.1 point -
Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024 Qualification Systems

Finally! No more strong teams out from games! No more european teams penalized for a weacky esotic nation!1 point -
Zero doubts this system was planned with the sole purpose of preventing a weak south american team from qualifying in either gender1 point

If the ban is just to "prevent internal propaganda" then yeah, i'm not for sporting sanctions. We're overestimating the importance of sport. It's not gonna be a deterrent for a tyranic government. As proven by North Korea or Cuba they can even tank massive economic sanctions for decades without giving a damn (and Russia is much bigger/self-sufficent), why would a ban from something as trivial as sport achieve any better results? It'll only affect the athletes themselves at the end of the day. Now, I think a better argument than the one about internal propaganda was the one dcro brought up, that ukranians cannot compete in equal conditions. Yet, if we want to be fully coherent with this criteria a good bunch of countries should also be banned for leaving others in "non competitive conditions" (Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen, etc). I'm not necessarilly against banning Russia if we are fully coherent with this...1 point
