  1. Sorry if this was posted earlier, I did not check. The perfect sport for the pandemic is fencing. You wear mask and gloves, and if someone comes closer than 1,5 meter to you, you stab them.

  2. Definitely the Gold Medal of Abhinav Bindra in 2008 Beijing in 10m Air Rifle. Where I distributed sweets to my colleagues after that. My students doing live commentary n all shouting n clapping inside the classroom. All inside the academy were startled to see the noise. That was beautiful moment.

  3. I personally try to watch all sports (minus rhythmic/artistic swimming) at least once live. I'll also try to watch every event a Canadian is competing in.

  4. Ok, let's see: Atlanta 1996 - Magic day 21st of July. Three gold medals for Poland: Ryszard Wolny (greco-roman wrestling 68kg), Andrzej Wroński (greco-roman wrestling 100kg) and Pawel Nastula (judo 95kg). Poland was even leader of medal table I believe because we had four golds at that time (Renata Mauer get one in 10m air rifle day before that) but I'm not sure. Nagano 1998 - To be honest I don't have one. It was time I was still very young and I was watching olympics only because of polish athletes and we wasn't very good in winter sports back then (but there was some good starts like Andrzej Bachleda in alpine combined or men's biathlon relay) Sydney 2000 - Robert Korzeniowski gold in 20km race walking. He was second when he cross the line but after the race winner Mexican Segura was DSQ for running. Korzeniowski found out about that during interview for polish television. Salt Lake City 2002 - Bjoerndalen four gold medals in biathlon, Lajunen three golds in nordic combined and of course Steven Bradbury. Athens 2004 - Magic day for Argentina. Two golds, one in basketball, one in football. First golds from a very long time. Torino 2006 - Shaun White gold in halfpipe and Martins Rubenis gets first winter medal for Latvia. Beijing 2008 - Bolt beating Johnson's WR on 200m and three golds of Chris Hoy. Vancouver 2010 - Kowalczyk beat Bjoergen in 30km and Steven Holcomb gold in four-man bobsleigh. London 2012 - Opening ceremony and Felix Sanchez gold. Sochi 2014 - I don't know, it was magical olympics. Two golds of Kamil Stoch, gold of Zbigniew Brodka (who wins it with advantage of 0,003s!), gold of Justyna Kowalczyk (won with broken foot). And ladies first ski jumping competition. Rio 2016 - Wayde van Niekerk WR on 400m and Ruth Beitia gold in high jump. And also WR of Anita Wlodarczyk in hammer. Pyeongchang 2018 - Two gold medals in two-man bobsleigh for Kripps and Friedrich, David Gleirscher gold in men's singles luge and German ice hockey team. Tokyo 2020 - Opening ceremony because when it'll begin I'll know that everything is just fine.

  6. The only reason to even think about a nuclear device is the momentary shape of the cloud, it would be much bigger were it indeed that.

  7. Oh they are true. I mean, one video, sure, have doubts...but tons and tons of videos from literally every angle (flats, streets, even boats)...that's real. And big. That was absolutely insane..

  8. From those videos which I saw all looks serious and authentic, all media and news TV channels here now reporting about this and shows those videos. Edit: According some people the explosion was heard even in eastern Cyprus.

  9. For most people Van den Berg, Lavreysen and Hoogland will be the favourites in the men's teamsprint, but for me is pretty clear that GB will win. They always win when it comes to it. Surely GB will have the best bikes and will win almost all track-competitions. Gymnastics: normally this would be the farewell exercise of Epke Zonderland (when he qualifies). Another Dutch Bart Deurloo also has chances to make it to the final. At the women's beam I don't really expect reigning Olympic champion Sanne Wevers. Her father and trainer is accused of mistreatment by the Dutch federation and not longer entitled to train with his daughter. Besides there are other good gymnasts that can qualify for the Olympics, like Sanna Veerman (uneven bars), Eythora Thorsdottir (beam/floor), Tisha Volleman (floor/vault) and Naomi Visser (all around). I would choose these four. Day 11 also the day of the hockey semifinals with the Dutch women for sure and hopefully the men as well. I'm not a big fan of their coach, Max Caldas. And of course athletics: that's a party every day :-)

  11. day #11 event of the day to me is Sailing, Nacra 17 Medal Race because of possible Italian success... then, also not to be missed are: Track Cycling (especially women's Team Pursuit), Athletics (all of today's program, but the men's 400m HS final is my highlight for sure), Flatwater Canoeing (the first finals of the Games for this sport) and finally I have a dream, an Italian medal in Wrestling (GR -97kg, Nikoloz Kakhelashvili)... last but not least, Sport Climbing's Olympic debut and the many "win or go home" matches in Team Sports (Waterpolo, Baseball, Field Hockey and Handball above all)...

  12. Well if we want to fight for medal we have to win with this kind of teams. And to be honest if our guys won't get any I probably prefer that they loose in QF than in bronze medal match. I was really dissapointed when our handball team lost with Iceland in Beijing but it was nothing compare to their lost in Rio with Denmark. And we was bigger favourite in 2008 than in 2016. Not likely, I'm affraid Our biggest chance for gold in this century was Piotr Siemionowski and we all remember how it ended. And despite the fact that we have very talented girls and there is also Tomasz Kaczor, none of them is on position of Siemionowski before London. That's only quarterfinals Of course I will be watching matches, especially the one with our team but finals are more important to me.

  14. That's in Spain only, everywhere else in hispanic world it is "canotaje" for Canoeing. I was asking because of the similarity of the word with the italian for rowing. Hmm curious... "Canoa" would be referring to the canoe (as in the object) in our language. I see that rowing is canotaj in romanian, similar root as italian I suppose. Both quite different from spanish and french words for that same sport ("remo" and "aviron").
