Today we had the end of the Portugal's stage in WSL. ítalo Ferreira :BRA and Caroline Marks :USA won their competitions. Because of that the race for the last quotas and the title go to Hawaii.

Up this moment, we have 4 quotas defined at women's competition.

Sally Fitzgibbons :AUS

Stephanie Gilmore :AUS

Johanne Defay :FRA

Tatiana Weston-Webb :BRA

The last quotas will be given to two American surfers between Caroline Marks, Lakey Peterson and Carissa Moore. Carissa is the favorite to win the crown, the other two women, probably, will fight for the last American quota.

Brisa :CRC, Silvana :BRA and Paige :NZL are disputing the last two tickets to Tokyo. Paige is the most likely to lose her flight.

The men's competition we have other 4 surfers already qualified

Kolohe Andino :USA

Jordy Smith :RSA

Jeremy Flores :FRA

Kanoa Igarashi :JPN

There are 6 more quotas available. The dispute for the last American quota promise to be super interesting. Kelly Slater :USA Seth Moniz :USA and a possibility that we watch John John Florence :USA coming back in Pipeline.

Michel Bourez :FRA (the favourite) and Joan Duru :FRA wil decide the last French quota.

As for Brazil, ítalo Ferreira (the new leader) Gabriel Medina and Filipe Toledo are very close from each other in the leaderboard.

Finally, the two Australian quotas are between six surfers. Owen Wright is the first on the line and he has a few more points than the second in it (Julian Wilson). Adrian Buchan, Ryan Callinan, Wade Carmichael and Jack Freestone are still on the race.

The last stage for women will take place in Maui at the end of November. The men's competition wil be in Pipeline at the beggining of December.

Summing up the chances of each surfer in Pipeline.

:FRA

Michel Bourez and Joan Duru are going to decide the last french quota. Duru needs to win the competition. There is no other way for him.

If Bourez finishes on 9th or better, Duru is automatically out.

:USA

Up this moment, John John Florence has the last American quota in his hands. If he finishes the event in 3rd or better, he'll get this officialy.

Kelly Slater can grab this quota:

if he wins the competition, and Florence finishes 5th or worse

if he finishes on 2nd place, and Florence finishes 9th or worse

if he finishes on 3rd place, and Florence finishes 17th or worse

if he finishes 5th place, and Florence finishes on 33rd

Seth Moniz also has a small chance to get it. He needs at least the third place and bad results from Kelly and Florence to have a chance to qualify.

:BRA

the fight fot the title will be, likely, between the Brazilians, and the Olympic quotas as well. The pontuation difference is
very small, because of that only one heat can make a huge change in their positions. So, Basically:

Ítalo has to finish the event on the same position, or better, than Medina or Toledo to qualify.
Medina needs to finish the competition on the same position, or better, than Toledo
Toledo needs to finish the competition in a better position than Ítalo and/or Medina(his first contender to the Olympic quota)

There are other possibilities, but we need to wait the waves, to check it up.

:AUS

The most complex competition for Olympic quotas. Six surfers for two spots. Owen Wright has a good pontuation, with 5.000 points ahead of Julian Wilson, the second Australian surfer in the ranking. He's in a comfortable position for his quota. As for the other five surfers, the situation is similar to the Brazilians, one heat can change everything.

    • Earlier today, Taiwan beat the USA    Of course it's car from the best US tram but it's still a big deal for Taiwanese baseball
    • And even here we lose to France? I really don't know what's the point of organizing the Olympics if you can't make progress in practically any sport. France has the Olympics in 2030 and there they will definitely prepare 100%, just like for Paris. We can't do that. It's obvious that in ski jumping we have no chance of winning medals, but decency dictates that we should at least win here with a France like that.
    • There is no snow in Lillehammer
    • Finally the ski jumping season begins 11 teams in the (real) mixed team competition, no Switzerland.
    • Most of our athletes are constantly bothered by something: the pressure to qualify, the miss of pressure when they have already qualified, etc. It's the same in football: at the beginning of the season they are a poor form becouse of a little played and at the end of the season they are tired. They are always looking for excuses. A real champion always plays at a high level, like Sinner, and doesn`t look for 1000 excuses for his poor performance.
    • Think it is mentally difficult for the two teams with the Olympic place guaranteed and the pressure off, whereas everyone else is absolutely playing at 110%.  I'm sure things will be better once they get to Milan.
    • There's no point in cheating, these were terrible European Championships for us. Retronaz out of form, Constantini with a huge number of big mistakes. Only illness can excuse it... We've probably lost the last 10 matches with Switzerland... It looks like Constantini had the tournament of her life in mixed doubles in 2022 in Beijing and she will never reach this level again.
    • What good is it to us if we took 4th place and lost an important match? If Constantini was sick, I forgive her, but I'm afraid that the Italian team will not exceed a certain level. Yes, they have made progress since 2022, but they lack that one decisive step to become a class team. Here we lost all important matches with teams at our/higher level: Sui x2, Sco x2, Swe. We only won with the one we were supposed to win with. I don't believe in a medal for this team in Cortina. After 2022, it seemed that Constantini could dominate women's curling, but it didn't happen that way. After Sinner's recent successes, I opened my eyes a bit and started to demand more from our athletes, coaches, and officials. I have no intention of being satisfied with 4th place, because with this approach, you won't achieve anything great.
    • play their best, but only get 1, so  get bronze 6-4!
    • Oh dear, once again a 50% shot from Constantini when she needed 100%.   blank the end & go into the 10th with the Hammer of Thor.
