South America: The Women’s Copa América will form the basis of the qualifying competition, and will be played in (date to be added) in (location to be added). The highest placed team of this tournament will qualify for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 ... they speak about the 2018 edition right?

I would not be 100% sure. The document is dated 15 March 2018 so they should have known the dates of the 2018 Copa America ? But on the other hand other events whome dates are confirmed are still listed as "TBD" in the document.

yes, it's this year's Copa America that has a place in Tokyo 2020 up for grab (and a second place heading towards a playoff against a CAF team)...

as you can read on the official website of the CONMEBOL:

"También hay en disputa 1 cupo para el Torneo Olímpico de Fútbol Femenino Tokio 2020 y la selección que ocupe la segunda posición disputará un repechaje contra un equipo de la CAF."

Women's Football Qualification Europe

The qualification process says : The FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 will serve as the qualification for Tokyo 2020. The three (3) highest placed teams of this tournament will qualify for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

Then said:In case not all three (3) places can be allocated, an additional tournament will be organised from the four (4) highest placed teams to determine which NOC gets allocated the quota place.   I do not understand this phrase .¿ In case not all three (3) places can be allocated, ? ¿An additional tournament the four (4) highest placed teams?

it's like in 2016...

at the previous world cup only France and Germany did qualify directly because they went further than any other European team...

then there were 2 or more teams that were eliminated in the same round of the world cup...among those teams, the best 4 (according to the fifa world ranking) did play a tournament for the last Olympic spot (last time the tournament was held in the Netherlands between NED, SWE, NOR and SUI and SWE went on to win it and did qualify for Rio 2016, where they also won a medal)...

basically, if 3 teams can't be separated by reaching a different stage at the 2019 world cup, then a tournament between the best 4 ranked teams in the fifa world ranking reaching the highest stage of WC will play for the remaining spot(s)...

For 2016 3 teams would have qualified as France, Germany and England were the only 3 European teams to reach the quarterfinal. The tournament was because the British federations could not agree to send a team, for Tokyo 2020 this has been resolved so if the same happened this time GB would accept their quota.

    • now the shooting sport takes a little Christmas break and the new season resumes in January with the Asian Championships for the Shotgun specialists ( Doha, Jan. 11th through 22nd)   the World Cup will be back in late March, beginning in  Tangiers (March 25th through April 3rd, Shotgun specialists only)   the Rifle and Pistol specialists will start their new season with the European 10m Championships in  Yerevan (Feb. 27th through March 5th) and the 1st World Cup stage for them will be in  Granada in April (5th through 13th)   300m, 25m and 50m European Champs will be in  Osijek (May 30th through June 21st), meanwhile the Shotgun European Champs will be held in  Athens from Sept. 27th through Oct. 13th

    • so, the 2025 season is officially over, after the World Cup Finals have been completed with the Shotgun events, where (once again!!!) a new format for the final stage of each event has been experimented for the first time (before it becomes a regular feature in the next season)   the new format enlarge the starting field in each event's final stage to 8 shooters and dramatically shortens the number of target shots to decide the placings   the only characteristic remaining is the progressive eliminations principle   now, as written above, 8 shooters make the final, where after only 12 targets the eliminations start: by then, the last 2 shooters must leave the competition (7th and 8th ranked)   after 12 more targets (24 in total), 2 more shooters have to leave the final (5th and 6th ranked)   then, the crazy carousel starts: every 4 targets we have a new elimination  so, after 28 targets, the 4th ranked shooter is done; after 32 targets the bronze medallist is known and after only 36 targets (provided there's no need for a shoot-off), compared to the previous 60, the gold and silver medallists are crowned   I guess the tiktok people with the attention span of a chinchilla have won once again
