Yes and that can end up being a bit problematic for World Athletics (fomerly known as IAAF) as @Johne has tweeted.

The most logical ways would be: a) best times (“slowest” times unfortunately don’t make the cut), b) go by world ranking (we say bye to the lowest ranked runners). It might be a good idea to keep track of both of those @Wumo (at least who has the slowest times and lowest rankings)

WADA will save us...

let's start to take all the Russians and the NOP related guys away from the list...

then let's get rid of those Kenian and Ethiopian cheaters...

and here we are...both marathons will have less starters than decathlon...:lol::facepalm:

It could potentially be quite simple: 80 quotas, so the top80 with a maximum of three per nation can go.

oh, yes! so, quick update...both marathons finally will have less starters than BMX freestyle competitions...:yikes::facepalm:

p.s. by the way, when I wrote about Kenian, Ethiopian (and I should add the new powerhouse, Uganda) cheaters, most of them are those implicated with the shady doctors from the Mediterranean Sea...

so, they were already somehow mentioned (even if not explicitly)...

1. Not "Stella Walsh" but Stanisława Walasiewicz.

2. She was not American, she was Pole.

3. She was not a doper, she was a hermaphrodite.
