From a Lithuanian perspective, I don't think that I'm excited for this upcoming season of biathlon.

Think that we're just in for more of the same.

Women's team falling apart again and undoing all of the progress again, plus other retirements.

Vytautas won't be getting any stronger, Tomas and Karol probably are going to be more of the same and Banys, Fomin and Mačkinė don't seem to be improving as fast to expect anything other than a pursuit race and not much more.

Adding to that, not a single exciting young prospect on the horizon for like 5-6 years.

:POL Kamila Żuk suffered a fall in training and will be out several weeks with what looks like a cracked tibia.

Additionaly Kinga Zbylut decided to retire from sport. If Hojnisz-Staręga will not comeback this winter then I believe that our mens team will be better than womens, or at least on an equal level...

Got at least one live source for the Martin Fourcade Festival this weekend.   Keep expecting this Channel to be :boxing: by YouTube like SimonTV was, but not happening so far.  The proper source is L’Equipe TV, but you need a mighty VPN to get it.

I think that it is safe now to claim that Gabrielė Leščinskaitė, Marija Kresik, Nikita Romanov and possibly Linas Banys don't seem to be coming back to our national biathlon team in the upcoming 2023/24 season. This is one of the most massive loses that our biathlon team has faced in a very long while. Especially since we would have been able to run a women's relay team this season after many many years of absence.

Other Lithuanian successes in different age groups:

W15

3. Eveta Šidlauskaitė 1+0 +10.6

M19

4. Mikas Vildžiūnas 1+1 +29.8

M22

1. Nikita Čigak 3+2

2. Darius Dinda 3+2 +44.4

I will follow up with results from the mass start when I have access to them.

    • For the summary and lowlights of Thailand's preparation in hosting the ongoing Sea Games, I kindly suggest those who are interested to read from this English language article from Thai media outlet, Thai Enquirer: https://www.thaienquirer.com/63469/thailands-sea-games-2025-under-fire-budget-management-and-technical-controversies/
    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
