Would be absolutely crazy if Germany could win the team gold without Jung and Auffarth. No matter what happens here, Germany (Jung, Auffarth, Klimke, Krajewski) not winning gold in Tokyo would be a huge shock for me.

IMO, with only three athletes per team, basically everything is possible in Tokyo. Just one of them needs to retire during cross country for the equipe to have no chances anymore. And that's always possible, look how many had to give up in Rio.

 

I do agree that Germany is probably the favourite. But with the new rules the competition will be tricky.

This combination has ABCDEFG elements, at least for the long route. Also the horses will be jumping up the water falls, possibly for the first time since 1984 Olympics.
