We never got any medals in archery in Olympics.. So no step backward as such... While woman team is very strong and is capable of a medal

You win, you loose, that's the beauty of sport, the un-acceptable part seems to be the strategic error by coaches and management, how come someone keep shooting low in both matches in all rounds, not a single 10's and very few 9's, be picked on this form, especially after the early exit against Brazil. Out of 18 arrows what would be his average?

India at the AIBA qualifiers

49 kgs - Devendro seeded 4th gets a bye to the round of 16

52 kgs - Gaurav Bindhuri fights antonia vargas of USA ( will be tough ) on 17th for the round of 64

56 kgs - no entry as shiva has qualified

60 kgs - dheeraj wins first bout against guatemalan boxer and enters round of 32 has extremely tough fight with delgado ( no 1 seed from mexico ) on the 18th afternoon

64 kgs - Manoj fights de la rosa of puerto rico on 17th afternoon and I expect him to win but if he does  he faces second seed aly mohd of egypt in the round of 32

69 kgs mandeep jangra fights esp boxer for round of 64 .( today ) ..expect jangra to win

75 kgs - Vikas seeded 2nd - is given bye to reach round of 32 on 20th

81 sumit sangwan faces TTO boxer in round of 64  tomorrow exp him to win but if he wins  he faces 8th seeded colombian on 19th  - I still feel sumit can win but tough fight

91  Amritpreet singh faces KOS boxer in round of 32 and then is likely to face tough US boxer if he wins in the round of 16

91+ Satish kumar faces TGA boxer on 17th for round of 32 and if he makes it through as I expect faces tough IRL boxer in round of 16

Really tough ....it is enormous competition and India has no real bout experience due to bad NOC issues ...... I expect 2-3 boxers to make it through and that is on the high side ....best bets obviously Sumit , Vikas , Devendro , Satish .................. all are very experienced and hence can be tough ...mandeep has a better draw so has a chance

One major issue for devendro and satish is that there is only 2 quotas for the 49 kgs and devendro has to reach final and satish has to win to qualify as there is only 1 quota for 91+  .....again very tough  ....... I think there are more vacancies in the professional rankings / bouts only vikas is eligible ................... all round keep your expectations low for boxing qualification is my thought ......................

Hockey

India enters the finals of the Champions Trophy 2016. :champion:

Belgium - Great Britain draws 3 - 3. Nerve racking match in the last quarter . Great Britain were trailing 1 - 3 and almost won the game to knock India out from playing the gold medal match . Great Britain scored twice in the penultimate 2 minutes of the game and looked like scoring another in the last minute.

Great Britain scored 2 goals in dying moments to draw their match against Belgium. This sent Indian team into the finals against Australia. This is our first ever final appearance in Champions Trophy.

Also, this is our fourth major medal in 2 years. CWG Silver, Asian Games Gold, HWL Bronze and now Champions Trophy. Plus Silver and Bronze at Azlan Shah. :champion:

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
