I do not understand the decision of not using Rahul in this crucial event, Champia already showed his form in the other events.

Champia won the individual quota, so thinking might have been 

1) no controversy if team won quota

2) Champia just had a bad day in qualifiers and would bounce back in team event

Not really...the quota won by Champia can be given to anybody by AAI. They had declared that if we fail to qualify a team, then fresh trial will be held to decide who goes...Clearly Atanu the favorite right now...
