She crossed 61 meters qualification requirement... Infact she won gold medal with throw of 62.62 metres in California Seema Antil Punia, a 32-year old discus thrower from Haryana, qualified for the upcoming Olympics in Rio de Janiero by winning gold at the Young Thrower's Classic in California on Sunday. Punia threw a distance of 62.62 metres, which was ahead of the Olympic qualification mark of 61 metres. It was also enough to beat her opponent Stephanie Brown Trafton, who win silver with a throw of 60.50 metres. she had recently done 60.80 so was definitely expected to reach the qualification but after many recent disappointments in athletics with the Olympic qualification recently it was great to receive this news Edited May 29, 2016 by nitinsanker strength does not come from physical capacity but from an indomitable will. - Gandhi

Suneet 16 Posted May 29, 2016 #1467 Share Posted May 29, 2016 Great news from the French Open! After a hard fought victory in the mixed doubles yesterday, 16th seeds Paes and Matkowski won their third round men's doubles match against the 4th seeds and current Australian Open champions Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares 7-6(5), 7-6(4) in a hard fought match lasting 1hr and 41 mins. From whatever I saw of the match, Paes seemed to be in good nick and was easily the best player on court. With this victory they now enter the quarterfinals and surely Paes' ranking should increase. 6th seeds Bopanna and Mergea also entered the quarterfinals in 3 sets 6-2, 6-7(4), 6-1 against the unseeded duo Baker-Daniell. Bopanna would next be in action in some time in the 2nd round of the mixed doubles against the 1st seeds Jamie Murray and Hao-Ching Chan. Sania Mirza is also scheduled to play today in the women's doubles 3rd round.

Prashanth 157 Posted May 29, 2016 #1470 Share Posted May 29, 2016 Mahesh Bhupathi shaping the career of 2 young and future of Indian Tennis 17-year-old Karman Kaur Thandi and 18 year Sumit Nagal. Karman made headlines in last year’s junior US Open when she reached the pre-quarters, following it up with a similar showing in the Australian Open. Sumit Nagal, who has just graduated to the seniors, became the sixth Indian junior to triumph at junior Wimbledon last year. The common link between the two --- they are both backed by Mahesh Bhupathi. Karman is ranked 645 in the WTA chart while Nagal is 388 on the ATP list. Well done Mahesh keep helping to produce superb talents for the country... Tokyo - 2020 Go India Go
