The Democrats have only themselves to blame for the outcome. However, just to think what were two candidates for a president of the most powerful country is just laughable. The meltdown of European countries on these results is quite a popcorn moment though, love to see it, especially the German one.

Also, someone said RIP Ukraine, RIP Palestinians - like Palestinians were doing so well over the past year while Democrats were still in charge, so now is gonna be even worse? Yeah, Trump might not be as generous in helping Ukraine though.

I think that Biden missed a good moment in the war in Ukraine 2 years ago (autumn 2022). At that time, it was necessary to press Russia harder and force it to reach a truce that would be beneficial for Ukraine. Unfortunately, since then the situation on the front and the social mood in Ukraine have got worse significantly. The tactic of keeping Ukraine on a drip has led the West to nothing. On the other hand, increasingly pro-Rus politicians are starting to come to power in other countries: Trump, Slovakia, Austria, and AFD is growing in Germany. Now, Trump's attitude will be crucial, what to do with this conflict. Unfortunately, Biden's entire presidency was conservative and weak. Harris' campaign was no different. This led to Trump's return and a much stronger one than he was four years ago. There is a lack of clear leaders in the West. Basically every important country is in chaos: USA, UK, Ger, Fra (only Macron has stayed in power of these leading countries recently but also his position is weaker than before). In my opinion he also isn`t able to take over leadership in Europe in the face of the crisis in the USA.

He's a businessman and the world simply doesn't remember what the world looks like when USA adopts isolationism. Trump will get involved if only he can make a profit. And his #1 geopolitical enemy is China. Not Russia, North Korea or Iran but China. Modern society especially in Europe simply doesn't understand that becuse nobody is old enough to remember the Monroe Doctrine which predates fascism by a full century. I don't think even in USA they call James Monroe a fascist :p

Thanks to this choice they are not a "Free World" and Chiba easilg will continiou the way to be superpower with this weak US. It's  a great video when his quotas are compared to quotas from this canous painter. This is shocking.

It was never a priority to stop the war but to prolong it to offload the old weapons systems and keep Russia occupied in a conflict. But the West's strategy backfired as it pushed Russia to friendship with China. Many don't realize as Russia and China are actually adversaries even when they shared a common ideology during the Soviet era

That is absolutely certain. Any somewhat reasonable politician should be good enough to win against someone like Trump, even with the unfortunate timing (for the Democrats) of having to carry the brunt of the COVID pandemic consequences and so any Republic having a bit of a head start anyway.

But yeah, dreadful performance overall from Harris, who seemed to start quite positively, but then just lowered herself to Trump's level in terms of throwing shit at each other. That was a terribly dumb choice, nobody is going to beat Trump at the insult game, as we have seen.

In my opinion, Trump is a very difficult opponent: he has hard electorate, not voters and if he does something wrong, his electorate forgives him. Secondly, he is an experienced man with a TV past who is doing great in the campaign. He is old but his health is good and it`s hard to beat someone like that. In 2020, Biden won mainly because of Covid and Trump's terrible decisions (Biden also won not by that much then). In my opinion, if the Republicans had put up a polite and well-mannered politician like Mitt Romney, Harris would have had a much easier time winning against him. If Trump were weak, he wouldn`t be allowed to run again after his defeat in 2020.

Trump's physical health may still be quite good, indeed. Mental health is a different story, judging by almost all of his speeches where he just gets lost in his own words.

But yeah, exactly what you mention: he can literally commit crimes and try and raise a coup, and his electorate won't care at all. That is of course besides the millions of people who might not really want to vote for a person like Trump, but simply believe with his policies they will have a better chance of paying their groceries, which - sad as it is - is definitely an understandable reason.

    • Fewer people do do this sport compared to the 90s, less money is spent on it, etc. In the case of women, at some point this sport was almost abandoned because of the belief that it was impossible to beat Scandinavia ( the times of Norwegian domination with Bjoergen and Johaug at the forefront). Only in the last 2 years has Markus Cramer been hired, who is gradually rebuilding the men's and women's teams. Suffice it to say that the last medalist of the World Championships for Italy in the women's was Arianna Follis in 2011... I will also remind you that in 2022 Pellegrino and de Fabiani trained with the Russian team, because the rest of the Italian team was in such poor shape that they couldn`t train together
    • Well that is a totally different question  I too have wondered what happened to Italian cross-country and how there is no one coming for so many years. But it shouldn't take away from the sports where progress has been made.
    • Where to Watch guide.  Discovery plus in most of Europe       https://www.ucitrackchampionsleague.com/watch-the-races
    • Appetite grows with eating. Especially since it's not like we develop in every winter sport... For example, 20 years ago we were a powerhouse in cross-country skiing and now we have only 1 Pellegrino (34 age) and a few talented youngsters. And let's remember that our performance in Turin was objectively weak for us: only 11 medals in total. Now, when I hear that we will to win 2O+, some discipline must definitely add medals and also compensate for the losses in cross-country skiing, for example.
    • The problem is that this mixed team has never played together since then. There was talk of personal obstacles. I don't know how it`s now.
    • Well that explains why she is wearing more clothes with every passing day.   Nevertheless that team is still one of the best in the world and is a vast improvement on what Italy was doing 10-20 years ago.
    • Any idea where a full schedule can be found yet? I remember last seasons the website was always godawful in terms of providing that basic kind of information..
    • Constantinis team have made huge improvements since 2022 even if they are not best yet. And Constantini never was world leading in mixed doubles before Beijing olympic either so it is not like she really have lost anything since 2022 either, except not being able to repeat that success.
    • She had health problems yesterday. Nevertheless, after the gold in mixed doubles with Mosaner in 2022, I counted a bit more on her development. I still think that the biggest chance for us in 2026 will be the mixed team, rather than our teams.
    • I don't know who Italy should field for the doubles? Sinner has the greatest individual strength but he probably doesn't train with anyone on the team. Last year Sinner played 2 doubles with Sonego in the Davis Cup (two wins) but this year Sonego isn`t in the squad. On the other hand the Bolelli-Vavassori doubles are well-coordinated, as is the Argentine one, but individually these players don't even mean as much as Sinner's 1 hand. For me the Sinner/Berettini option is possible but the question is: did they train together on last day?
