Obviously that begs some questions to be asked but they won't because there's another side of the coin nobody wants to touch with a wooden pole.

Yeah, people prefer to simply make suggestions or insinuations, without using the actual words. "I'm not saying it's a cover-up, I am just asking questions!"

It's politics. The last place where you can expect people to say what they really think

There is no Microsoft IT failure, that's a BBC mistake then (it's a CrowdStrike failure, but also media here started off with wrongfully calling it a Microsoft/Windows failure). But yeah, that was and still is definitely bigger than stuff in Leeds, so very much without any doubt it makes sense to mention that bigger.

Point is, BBC did report it, it's just a certain kind of people who yell things are 'being ignored' when they aren't given the amount of attention they think it should get.

It's an idiot operative failure, frankly.  When I was at the University we NEVER rolled out our weekly batch of MS security etc updates on Day 1 without testing them first in controlled environments.  Just for this reason. Guess airlines don't think their business is important enough to take the same precautions

It's easy to read between the lines.  If the BBC says a white person did XXXYYY, then that is clear.  If the BBC says a "youth" or a "community leader" or some equivalent phrase, then that too is equally clear.  Also "Woman accused of rape" always means only one thing.

Sky News, The Independent, BBC, etc, all are reporting on that. Just not in massively screaming letters all over the TV's and phones of certain right-wing minded people, so they think it's being 'ignored' or something.

Glad that we have people like you to explain us what is really going on …

I am sure people remember how the press reported about all those peaceful BLM protests and all those attempts of (supposed) Trump supporters who tried to start a civil war …

Crazy how delusional some people are …

Just look at who owns the biggest newspapers/TV channels and what percentage of journalists identify as republican/democratic and anyone with a brain will see how the reporting isn’t anywhere near „objective“.

But it wasn't a MS security update.

In Germany the term „from western Asia“ has become very popular to describe the usual suspects …

Or similar, weekly virus update wasn’t it?

No idea about the frequency of this update, but the main thing is that it wasn't a Microsoft update, it was a CrowdStrike update in a piece of their software. Unlike usual Windows updates, updates like that can't reasonably be delayed by a week (or days), since otherwise one might as well not have any protection software at all.

Gonna be quite a hassle, so far the main fix is to manually delete a certain file, so affected computers need to be accessed manually. VM's need a different kind of workaround, disconnecting disks, connecting them to a new VM, fixing it, disconnecting again, connecting them back to the original VM.

Someone at CrowdStrike is having a bad day. Like thousands of IT personell in the world, who'll make massive overtime today and the next few days..

Ouch!  Like I say at the University 90% of our PCs ran an identical build, so at least it could be done centrally, but still at least 90-180 minutes to reboot, rebuild & roll out the fix.

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
