On a more serious note, the Dutch electoral and political system is the most democratic and representative in the entire European Union. Many other countries should take inspiration... While in Italy we are making a big U-turn, effectively proposing a maxi-majority with the direct election of the prime minister, something that only existed in Israel.

I like the system in general, although I would like something like a basic minimum limit in order to get into parliament, because it's just a massive mess with 15+ parties realistically getting seats (including a lot of small ones) and a lot of those parties disagreeing with each other on just one or two specific things.

We'll see how it goes tomorrow, I think it's quite long ago that three or even four parties were this close together and all having a realistic shot at becoming the biggest. Last time it was clear well before the elections, and before that it was a two-way fight or something with three or four being clearly above the rest, but nothing like it is now: VVD, PVV, PvdA/GL and NSC all have a more or less serious chance at becoming the biggest.

Things might be easier in terms of forming a government: majority of 76 is needed and any combination of three of these four would be quite likely to get there. PvdA/GL being the only left party in that short list means it seems pretty likely we'll get a VVD-PVV-NSC government (unless Wilders, like so often, just makes it impossible to form a government with him so he can keep shouting from the sidelines).

Olympic Truce Resolution agreed to by the UN for Paris 2024. A lot of nations not even bothering to vote on it. Russia and Syria were the only nations to formally abstain from voting.

Of course, we’ve all learned a member state can violate said truce and remain a member of the IOC (without even a suspension nonetheless!), so a nice meaningless gesture by all involved.

If true, this is pretty sick. Actively calling for purposefully maiming genitals - like in Bible stories - in a way that should incredibly obviously only ever be done to adults who make the decision for themselves (or in medical emergencies).

Well in that case, does he want to go back in time and collect their foreskins or what? It's just a weird and rather sick overall thing to say anyway :p

Well I’ll translate, he quoted the bible, and then he compared between the words of the bible to the situation in Gaza, he said that we try to bring prosperity and they try to demolish us like in the bible and just like in the bible where they shut down wells of water the IDF shut down tunnels , and just like when David’s army brought back the forskin as the symbol of victory, our army will be the one who will bring the forskins( metaphorically) meaning that we will be the victorious ones. This is weird compensation by a F graded minister , but by no means anyone thinks we are going to cut anyone’s  forskin, though we do wish to be with the upper hand in this case, btw I’m here to answer questions, I mean questions the are not intended to just piss off , genuine questions

Polls closed at 21.00 and so the first exit polls can now be published, and they're quite a shocker. Absolutely massively good picture for PVV of Geert Wilders: a staggering 35 seats, 9 more than leftist PvdA/GL and 12 more than ruling centre-right VVD. Damn.

Of course it's only exit polls, but it's usually not like the actual result is different by 5+ seats.

Amazing news for the Netherlands and Europe (if it holds up). Yesilgöz not winning is/would be a huge win.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

Given the amount of political violence in NL directed by the extreme Left against the Right, it’s no wonder people do not like admitting to strangers what they really think.

Also: people with weird hair are 2/2 electorally this week.
