Leo Johansson from Sweden restes positive for covid at arrival in China.

He had Covid a few weeks ago and tested 6 times negative after that so this should hopefully just be small rests of the virus and not be able to infect others..

Hopefully he tests negative soon enough though...

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

The Norwegian team has announced that Anne Kjersti Kalvaa, that tested COVID positive a couple of days ago, will be replaced by Ragnhild Haga in the Norwegian Olympic team. Very unfortunate situation for Kalvaa. :(

The Norwegian team will announce soon, likely tomorrow, what will happen with Heidi Weng. The Norwegian female olympic team will fly to Beijing February 1st.

How is Bruna doing ? :(, Is there any indications when she will be able to leave the hospital ?

Not really. Or well, not exactly, although we do have hope for it to not take super long. We had some hopes for her to be transported to the Netherlands tomorrow or even today, but she still needs a surgery on both her left arm and left foot, which can't wait too long. To do that, a hospital in the Netherlands would need to receive her, but that's not possible on such short notice. Exceptions are possible for surgeries that really need to be done here (but that's not the case, Bolzano hospital in the centre of skiing-accident world obviously knows their way around fractures) or in case the patient is in a country where hospitals aren't known to be similar in terms of quality. Italian hospitals are seen as excellent, so an exception can't be made to receive her here. In short: the surgeries will need to happen in Italy, hopefully still tomorrow.

Since we're talking about surgeries for fractures, I am assuming that afterwards she most likely doesn't need to stay in the hospital too long, so we do have hope for her to be here in less than a week. The advantages of doing the surgeries in Italy are multiple, at least: we win time by doing so, her pain (especially to her foot) will be relieved much sooner and when being transported (most likely by a sort of 'ambulance taxi' we can hire), she can be dropped off straight here at home instead of in a hospital.

Plus Simen Hegstad Krüger tested positive and won't be defending his skiathlon gold next week.

Thanks for your time and updates buddy. Stay strong, I am (pretty sure we all are) still thinking about you both

btw, I sincerely hope all health and insurance costs are covered by the Brazilian federation/comittee, it is the least they should do

    • There is a saying to never trust a Russian in gymnastics. Well, ex-Russian turned Bulgarian Elvira Krasnobaeva is transferring now to Armenia.   The "official" reason is for personal, family matters, but in reality it's most likely because she wasn't selected for Paris, which angered her parents. Even though she is only 16, had her breakthrough just this year and started making mistakes, when they amped up the difficulty.   Our Federation's President Iliana Raeva said today, that she received calls also from France and Azerbaijan about Elvira's mother basically auctioning her. Raeva mentioned, that Krasnobaeva was going to be a vocal point in the next Olympic cycle, but now she can hit the road and missed her chance to ever compete for Bulgaria, even if she wanted to in the future.    We are also going to make a new Group from next season. After the disappointment in Paris, 4 out of the 5 girls announced their retirement.
    • true, but was expecting India to get troubles from Australia, not from New Zealand, and specially not by being bowled out. Makes the group phase interesting though
    • The 4th best team in the world beating the 3rd best team in the world is not a huge surprise though.
    • I’ve been recently introduced by some friends to cricket (or the t20 version of it, at least) and actually liked it so I’m following the World Cup that’s happening during this month
