Women’s Sabre semifinals:

:HUN Marton vs. :HUN Pusztai

and

:FRA Berder vs. :KOR Yoon

Hungary looking very strong in women’s sabre, they might be the favorite in women’s team sabre at the Olympics?

They had a 3rd girl in the top 16 (Katona), France had 4 in the top 16, South Korea and Russia both had 2 in the last 16, no other nation had more than 1.

Eh, it's sabre and it's women's sport. Who knows what will happen in the team event, nothing would surprise me. They can have an amazing day in the individual event and then flop in the team event the next day. I will celebrate when we will have the team quota.

I don't think this event can be really an indication of what's gonna happen in a few months...

basically, this is the first fencing event in 1 full year...I'm pretty sure that not all the teams are in the same kind of shape, especially those who are already qualified (or eliminated) from the Games...

for instance, in Italy Fencing has been stopped completely and actually it's still standing by...so, I expect all the Italians to have poor results in these weeks (and especially this weekend), but this doesn't mean that we won't be competitive as usual in Tokyo...

p.s. and in fact, so far women's sabre specialists  have had a nightmarish saturday, all of them going out in the 1st or 2nd round of the individual event...:nopompom:

and I don't expect the men to be a lot better, too...
