Including Matthias Vosté, who earlier celebrated qualifying for the Olympics only to realize he had made a mistake and he wasn't qualified. Nice :)

Finally!! Pavel Kulizhnikov world champion and world record holder dont going to Olympic Winer Games. Because he is from Russia and has a great chance of winning . :yesVery nice

Yes, Kulizhnikov not going to the Olympics has been known for a couple days already actually. Sadly the same goes for Yuskov.

But this is not politics, right? This IOC is fighting against russian doping

Oh I'm here for speed skating :)

It's a real shame Yuskov can't go. Yuskov vs Verweij in the 1500m was promising to be one of the best fights of the entire Games.

If it was for political reasons: How would "the Russian hating western countries" gain political advantages from barring Russian speed skaters from a sporting event?

just because of that? And the fact that the people were preparing for 4 years, waited, and closed the door in front of their nose? For no reason, just because they are Russian and they can win. What is it like? Fighting doping? No, this is not a fight against doping, this is discrimination and those who invented it will pay

Like I said, I'm here for the speed skating discussion :) (we do have both a politics and doping thread, where this kind of thing fits better)

And yes, looking at the sport, what this thread is about, it's a huge shame Yuskov won't be there. Kulizhnikov has already hurt the sport before, so I'm having less problems with that (even though it'd be nice to see 11 instead of 10 potential gold medal winners), plus the 500m is entirely open anyway, with or without Kulizhnikov. Shikhova not being there is a shame as well.
