Biathlon IBU Open European Championships 2021

Recommended Posts

Worth noting that California is bigger than all European States except for Russia, Ukraine, France, Spain and Sweden :d Covers an area which would roughly contain Italy + Austria + Switzerland

Anyone know what the coverage will be like for the Europeans?  Obviously we get ES comms at the weekend: will we get anything tomorrow & Friday?

Nope. TV signal will only be produced on Saturday & Sunday.

Eurovision says that they’ll be live in 13 hours...

That stream will be unavailable in France, Poland, and US though.

I knew the had their snow and size. But since all the urban hubs there are not associated with snow, it's difficult to imagine a biathlete from California making a national team.

California having only one biathlon club + Hammerness training in Norway gives some perspective though. :p

They possibly refer to the beginning of the competition they broadcast, not necessarily the event in itself :mumble:

I don't remember how it was last year.

You don't really need a strong relationship with snow sport to get one guy in the national team, especially for the USA. Like, one motivated athlete can be enough if he's gifted.

While we don’t have a lot of clubs, the Lake Tahoe area is still fairly accessible for many people. The 80 (or as non-Californian heathens would refer to it as, Interstate Highway 80) goes through Truckee, which is just north of Lake Tahoe and Squaw Valley. The 80 runs from Sacramento, CA to Reno, NV and then on.

Fairly sure last year Eurovision had everything (except for in the few countries mentioned, unfortunately for you) and Eurosport had the weekend events. And for the youth/junior worlds I believe the first events were nowhere and only the final events were shown.

Don't you worry, I'll be alright ... Though once again geo-blocking applies even so the event is nowhere to be seen on the channel preventing us from watching the Eurovision stream

Looks like that’s been cancelled - it’s now pointed to Saturday as Day 1 for broadcasting.  :(

So just the Saturday pursuits & relays on Sunday.

    • The only ones complaining about the short track refs are Italians, imo. Not even on this forum, but in general, from what I've been seeing on live chats and other social media sites. That says a lot to be honest. I suspect it's partially due to them not performing to the high standard they're expected to perform at especially at the Olympics. The refs make a lot of mistakes for everyone, there's no bias against or towards anyone    Plus, Italy have won 6 medals already.... the most you've won at a Worlds since 2016.
    • For me they gave Canada the gold in the relay in exchange for a 1000-meter dsq gold for Dandjinou, that's how I see it. It was a battle between Kor and Can on 2 of this case. It's hard to say why that last dsq for Kor was in relay? Of course, Italy win bronze thanks for that, but that's not really important. It would have been better if the referees had just stayed out of the results and left it as it was decided for fight on the ice.

    • the quata for europe or australia is from the primer 12, where the top 20 teams will participate, sadly  is the 21th team so the only slight chance for us in my opinion is if: we get top 2 at the european championship (not including  hopefully if they get the quata), then somehow win the final qualification tournament against i assume  and one of    the chances for us are slim, i think about 4 other team sports  have a better chance in in my opinion(and the most team sports we ever had was one, and it was the last two time after a long time )

    • well, Cuba and Venezuela for sure...   Iran is a different question, but I hope in 2 years all this war shit is done and dusted and at least in the sports world everything is gonna be OK
    • In my opinion the Italian team has been playing above expectations since last year after several years of decline. Last year, we advanced to the first division at the European Championships and now they're playing very close matches against the strong India and Scotland. We a little miss a potential to do more – we are only 18th in the world rankings. Our men's team's performance in this sport is much weaker.
