I remember there was a Vietnamese woman who was close to qualifying in monobob last Olympics. Anyone know if they're still competing?

The IOC should relly should implement a pool of tripartite places to hand out to otherwise unqualified countries (in sports other than alpine and cross country skiing)

Looks like after the World's in Trondheim, the simulation of countries competing in Milan-Cortina is going to be less than Beijing (barring any surprises). A second straight games with a decrease.

just wondering what the totals are like that you are using. I think there is 78 or so already qualified and then there is; Azerbaijan, Moldova, Jamaica, puerto rico, philippines, and morocco are solid bets. Then, virgin islands, san marino, venezuela are quite possible. Then long shots (who are competing) are Tunisia, Vietnam, Ghana, Cyprus, and Ecuador.

There would need to be a minimum standard for any tripartite spots or else you risk getting someone killed

Well ya. It’s just very common that some countries have their best athlete in a sport other than alpine skiing or cross country skiing, but they aren’t ranked very high while still being at the level to compete at the World Cup or World Championship level.

Yea I agree, Wildcards should be given to athletes who just miss the standard (the IF would need to make the call with the IOC)

I just saw the Wikipedia article about the Ski Mountaineering qualification and I'm a bit worried. Look, I know almost nothing about the sport and its qualification method, but why does Slovakia not even look like it is eligible for a spot in the women's sprint? Where is Jagerčíková?

The "Next eligible NOC per stage" table shows only the next 3. Slovakia (Jagerčíková) in women's singles is sixth in the line now.
