So the Belgian euphoria around their first dressage team since Amsterdam 1928 was short lived. :lol:

I suppose that's good news for us. But to be honest I had not realised that both Irish riders were in their 60s so hardly going for the experience. Struggling to avoid last place will be their aim sadly.

Stupid. If Ireland first declined the spot, Belgium should send a team. 

Ireland has a problem for decide? They don't know what they are doing? 

National committee decide here or athlete? Childish game from Ireland.

What a mess. The only people who should be ashamed here is the selectors (i.e. Johann Hinnemann). Fair play to the riders for fighting the decision. Even if they will probably finish last :d. 

 

Poor Belgium, I feel sorry for their riders.

By the way I see it quoted in this article and in eurodressage that it is still questionable whether the Irish will get a slot now since that quota went to Belgium and the deadline has passed.

"There may still be hope if there are any slots left particularly in circumstances where they say that the withdrawal of the Team by HSI to the FEI  should not have been accepted as only the OFI that  can withdraw a team," said Rawlins' lawyer.  "They are humbled by the support of the nation that has been shown over the last week and really hope that the OFI decide to send a dressage team to the Olympics to ensure all of the work done to get a place does not go to waste."

Dane told Eurodressage, "I doubt we will get into Tokyo now. Maybe we can change things for others in the future."

I guess it can go both ways, but since Ireland earned their slot and finished ahead of Belgium, there is a clear argument that, following the appeal, their place should be reinstated.

 

On the side-note, last year FEI removed a bunch of points from Sri Lanka and awarded a quota to Hong Kong. Sri Lanka appealed successfully to CAS, which resulted in Hong Kong losing their place.

 

(Not to mention how some other federations are perfectly happy to award and rescind quotas as they please)

      Yesterday at 8.40pm, what Italians call “Sanremo Holy Week” began, ending very early at around 1.20am (with controversy attached, as this is finally the last year for this presenter). It wasn't a great edition, with no big favourite singers like Mengoni in 2024 or Giorgia in 2025 (who lost!).       Thanks for the amazing work on the spreadsheet. If my eye's read correctly you expect  to get a quota in Sprint (M) canoeing . This will be historic, if time permits could you elaborate a bit please. What are the chances we get to hold on to the quota place ? Is their a risk of missing out? Thanks!
