Summer Sports World Championships Medal Counts in the Road to Tokyo 2020

Nice! Do you know wich competitions they are considerou? I mean, WSL or ISL for surf? World Cup or World League for Volley? A brazilian guy do the same thing but some numbers até diferent. Brazil for exemple is 6-5-9 in his medal table and South Korea is 4-4-9

No, I don't know the specifics. From the wording, I believe they only used world championships results (no world cups or world league results).

The overall tally seems a bit low to me also (the US with "only" 104 medals ?), so maybe, sports without a proper world championship have been excluded from the table.

PS I'd be interested by that Brazilian guy table :)

Thats a nice topic! For example, I think that the world league is more important than the world cup in volleyball, meanwhile WSL is more important that ISL BUT the last one has the same conditions that we will see next year. I think is a bit difficult to do a "official" medal table like this but for sure its a great indicative for 2020.

Sure! here is the link:

For volleyball only the World Championships should count in these medal table, neither the Nations (former World) League nor the World Cup (especially this year) are remotely comparable to the WCh.

Obviously some sports do not have World Championships every year, so a "2019 medal count" is different than a "latest WCh medal count"

    • Totallympics Annual International Song Contest 2025      Thank you Malta and goodnight! Italy with a hugely important 12 points! It's their 3rd maximum score of the day and move them up into the silver medal position with 5 juries left to vote!   France drop down to the bronze medal position, just 2 points ahead of Spain in 4th! Romania, Argentina and Germany are still within striking distance of the medals so all to play for!   Meanwhile Ireland's lead is now up to 45 points and with just 5 juries left to vote, it could be all over soon in terms for the fight for victory as there are only a maximum of 60 points available. One thing we know for sure is that it won't be decided after the next vote because it's time to welcome the host jury Ireland to deliver their set of points!     Good evening Ireland! We are calling upon our mascot Séamus to please give us the votes of the Irish national jury!       Juries Voted: 29/34    1  Ireland 10 161  18  United States   62  2  Italy 12 116  19  Ukraine   59  3  France   108  20  Turkey 8 59  4  Spain 4 106  21  Sweden 6 53  5  Romania   101  22  Guatemala   53  6  Argentina   100  23  Denmark   49  7  Germany   97  24  Poland   48  8  Albania 5 90  25  Malta   47  9  Mexico   85  26  Lithuania   45  10  Canada 3 83  27  Slovenia   42  11  Kazakhstan   77  28  Greece   37  12  Serbia 9 75  29  China   34  13  Israel 11 75  30  Brazil   33  14  Netherlands 7 69  31  Bulgaria   33  15  Portugal   65  32  Indonesia   30  16  Great Britain 1 64  33  Slovakia   28  17  Tunisia 2 63  34  India   15
