:SUR Soren Opti to withdraw after testing positive twice in his home country

Any word on wether he will be replaced by another athlete, or will the men’s singles drop down to 41 entries?

Seems like the latter, I think the BWF officials are still having their breakfast atm

Per the LAR if the reason of withdrawal is justified, which it is, and if there is enough time, there will be a replacement. So perhaps :POL would send their athlete?

Hopefully yes, but the Polish athlete should not have too much hope on that

He said that is probably more possible that this quota won't be allocated. Only w/o for rivals in group.

Yes, at this point I do not see any more athletes invited, at least for sports of 1st week, the time is running out, the hosts require a lot of necessary but also a lot of nonsensical things for which there is simply no time to do them. In those sports, I am convinced either they will simply use athletes from other disciplines as double starters or just there will be fewer competitors than the permitted quotas were distributed.

These things are going to be so heartbreaking

For everyone of course, but especially athletes whose main goal is not so much to win a medal, but to participate and show what they can do...

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

@Griff88 any info from the backstages about the final schedule release

Speaking from prior experience, the schedule for the next day is done the day before. The full schedule for first two days are available on the Tokyo 2020 website.
