  • 2 weeks later...

After one day of no info, IWF has finally updated the results and live score for the Pan American Championships...

In day one Colombia grab all three golds in dispute; but as they've already secured qualification in both genders, the top positions for qualification went to Canada (W -48), Mexico (M -56) and El Salvador (M -62)

Sadly, El Salvador missed their chance for a spot in Rio; their top lifter couldn't take a spot in the top 15 individual rank, and as they only field 2 lifters (the other one with a DNF), their chances of making to the Olympics,

Can someone do a quick recap on how qualification for this works. I've tried to follow along, but I just don't get it.

The countries that have qualified do not count for points. So if you finish fourth and are the first country not qualified you get the max 28 points. Second place gets 25, third gets 23, fourth 22 and so on.

They might still have a chance for reallocation, depending what happens with doping nations (and depending how close Salamanca is to top 15).
