Expert, I need help. If you were to name 3-4 athletes who had the biggest chance to win gold in Rio, who would you name? The only one I can think of is Abdulrashid Sadulaev who is apparently destroying the field in his class :p

him, Jordan Burroughs, maybe Mijain Lopez (unless he sells his soul once again to Turkey as he did twice before) and maybe Taha Akgul, beside that there is no clear favorite for gold in other weights and I'm only talking about men's wrestling.

Thank you sir :hatoff:

I just remembered about the two Japanese women as well, Kaori Icho and Saori Yoshida. Even though Icho had her first loss in 13 years this year, I suppose they're still the major favorites again.

I hope Frank Chamizo can also storm through his rivals as he did last year in Las Vegas...:p

I don't consider winning so many close matches as "storming" , he didn't dominate his opponents, mostly winning on last second points, he is just one of the favorites, not the top favorite, he had few losses recently.

haha how stupid is Lorinz :)

Nope, it was acting from Etlinger, good call at the end

by saying that I would prefer Etlinger to win this one but that was the correct call

    • Vivat Slovakia    But in all seriousness, it's been repeatedly stated how important it is to qualify in a team event for the next Summer Olympics. However, I have no idea if we even have a realistic chance.   We only have one fewer individual athlete competing this year than we did in Paris, so individual quota spots aren't the main issue. Where can we find a competitive team, like we do in hockey? Maybe the women's handball team could start something big, but that's still far in the future, very likely unachievable in just two years.   And to be clear, as horrific as our medal tally from Paris looked, those were some of the unluckiest Olympics for Slovakia I have ever seen. Finishing in the top six seven times (!) is absolutely insane.

    • I really hope Nordic Combined doesn't get scrapped. Actually, I believe the Winter Olympics should keep growing with new sports and disciplines (3x3 Hockey, Ice Cross, Speed Skiing, Ice Climbing), otherwise they won't feel like a true celebration of sports like their summer counterpart.
    • In fact, well, no. Hockey is extremely physically demanding, I even think it is the most physically demanding winter sport of all. I mean keeping more than a minute on ice is just cardiac. The shifts are there for a reason.   25 players rosters are absolutely justified. You must have 4 lines to keep the stamina the whole game.   Hard to persuade people who never watched hockey though, I can understand your point, but sadly, the point is wrong
    • Stats are ok, but the time she losts on the range every time... My point was that she is more likely to make us losing the olympic relay than to make us winning it.
    • I'll jump on the off-topic with an unpopular opinion - ice hockey isn't so stamina demanding to justify 25 people rosters. And it doesn't have big playing fields like football or rugby for example, where you'd require so many reserves. 15 field players + 3 goalies should be good. Or 18+3 at max. But 25 is too much imo and the constant substitutes are too much as well.
    • But her shooting surely never was horrendous, or even bad for her standards.
