Day 3 of the EYOF.

A french day with 6 medals, 3 of them golds, won only today , Historic gold for Luxembourg and very very cold weather with extremely low temperatures. this was the 3rd day of the Eyof in Erzurum. This night it´s expected around -36 degrees in Erzurum, this is also the reason why the girls slalom was moved from originally planned a night event to this morning.

all results are in our Results Database

From Slovak view it was so far our best day with 3 top 10 results.

Our Figure skater Silvia Hugec unfortunately droped from 5th place she had after the short program but still finished in a very nice 8th place.

Henrieta Horvátová showed a very pleasant performance in the biathlon pursuit missing only 1 target and with shooting record 0+0+0+1 moved to the final 10th place !

Very nice result of both our short track speed skaters, Sandra Trusová was so close to the A final, but lack of luck send her together with her team mate Ema Zelinská to the B Final, she won it and finished the 1500m event at very solid 7th place, Zelinská is 11th.

11th finished also Simon Fukas in the mens figure skating event, from the others results a nice 14th and 17th place also to mention in mens biathlon pursuit by Lukáš Ottinger and Tomáš Sklenárik. Viktor Slezák after terrible shooting was 35th, among girls Veronika Heidelmeierová 31st and Mária Remeňová 35th

Tomáš Gerat DNQ for the snowboard cross event from the qualifiers, and from 2 our girls only Zuzana Jakubčová finished the slalom at 24th place. Andrea Šafáriková DNF 2nd run.

Tomorrow 4th day our athletes will compete in the mens slalom, both classical Cross-country skiing sprints, 500m girls short track event and our hockey team will face the unbeatable Russian team in the semifinal, but assuming they will mainly try to save the lot of energy they can before the Fridays bronze medal match.

The way I read that is that there has been a rather major crash in the last 1-2 laps, right? Well, take a look at the video which shows the 1500m final from around 11:00....and then stops with 3 laps to go!! Seriously, I was like this when the video switched from the moment where everything was about to happen....directly to the ceremony:

Ok, so that's a silver for Leon Nikić in men's slalom. :)

However, he was 3.42 behind the winner. Let's just say I don't consider him too much for the future reference, at the moment. :p

    • I wonder if there are any monuments to their first leader, who died in 2006, or has the latter taken over everything?
    • now the leader is not that one, but his son (you’ll see him in one of the photos I shared, in the tv. His face is everywhere as it happens in any country with cult of the leader).   and yes the story is true, in Ashgabat only white, golden and some other colour (grey?) cars are allowed in the city. Just like every building is white.   And it’s funny you mention the talibans, because Turkmenistan has an Afghanistan representation/consulate in their country, and one of the days when we were eating lunch in a mall at Mary city, the Turkmen guide was called by the restaurant waiter and then came to us and said “ok so don’t worry, but a taliban delegation is coming here to eat lunch so don’t take pictures and behave discreetly when they enter”.   One of those wtf moments of our trip haha
    • I agree, but having 2 (in 2016) or 4 weight categories wont help the noble cause. Why UWW limited this WC to only non olympic wrestlers? Why only 4 weights?  And so on. I saw some great bouts but they were overshadowed by these facts. At least IMO.

    • https://www.news18.com/news/auto/turkmenistan-president-bans-all-colored-cars-from-capital-only-white-cars-allowed-1632963.html   It`s crazy. In my opinion, there was better there when they were under the USSR, because there were no such absurdities.
    • A few years ago I read a crazy story about this president-dictator from Turkmenistan, who banning white or dark cars from being imported to Turkmenistan (I don't remember which ones). This is a country of absurdities. After the fall of the USSR, a dictator- Turkmenbascha, who ruled there for many years and died about 15 years ago and his health minister replaced him and has ruled ever since. Both are madmen. Uzbekistan or Kazakhstan are more civilized and don't have such weirdos in power. It's probably only the Taliban that are more radical.
    • Would you believe......Southern Hemisphere outdoor season starts tomorrow!  Live meet from  here     https://m.youtube.com/@coparaguay/streams
    • 200m / 400m runner Jodie Williams.   Had a great record at the Age Group level but never quite got the big solo wins as an adult.  Relay bronze in Paris was her finest moment.   https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/articles/ckgl7gwvj8go
    • This is the World Senior Championship final, not a high school match   and this kid is under 20 (won the world U20 this year) and destroyed everybody (including  Olympic Champ Uguev and World Champ Arujau) in his senior debut.   injuries and lack of motivation play a big role, but if this kid stays healthy and motivated, I don't think anybody beats him in next 10 years. he is lightening fast, his gut-wrench is deadly and he can throw at will. that's the complete package.   not sure what Olympic weight he picks. Japan has the current Olympic Champion in both 57kg and 65kg.   I think it's fair to say Japan is currently the best men's freestyle team in the world. (despite being weak in heavier weights)
    • Sport is not only about the Olympics (which is somehow ruined by the IOC, mixing it with the politics and for this specific sport limiting the number of athletes to just 16 per weight)   it was a great competition (despite having a terrible host) . yep the freestyle competition ended up very badly for our team but it was great pleasure watching Masanosuke Ono and likes of Abdulrashid Sadulaev, Jordan Burroughs, David Taylor and Zavur Uguev.   watching Masanosuke Ono itself makes my day.
