Fun fact: if you happen to see a photo of the village somewhere and you notice a Brazilian flag in front of a window: that's the flag from the opening ceremony of the IBU Open European Championships in Poland last week :p

Just for fun I looked at their roster and took one example: Cassandra Dunne plays at Penn State University, yet on PSU's website she's not even listed in the team roster so maybe she's not even in the 'main team' there or something...apart from that, the college season doesn't stop for the Universiade, so I'm guessing colleges want to keep their best players.

It's so incredibly hard to predict by the way, way harder than in biathlon. Like these Chinese: they only ever competed in China (with the exception of the previous Universiade for one of them) so it's nearly impossible to know how strong they are. Same thing for the Koreans, who finish minutes behind other Koreans in local races, but again, hard to predict..the Americans are even worse, with some of them only competing some non-FIS college races. 

 

At least a good number of Polish, Ukrainian, Belarussian and even Mongolian athletes competed against Mika in December, which gives me a bit of a comparison :p

Yeah I don't recognize any of the racers except Kaznacenko from Lithuanian biathlon. Haha

Then again I don't follow XC skiing as closely.

How were the athletes in relation to Mika? They had similar speeds at the Biathlon ECH.

So an athlete like Ukrainian Mazur was 2:40 minutes slower than Mika in a 10km freestyle in December and 40 seconds slower in a classic sprint qualifying. That's definitely beatable for Bruna.

 

The numbers at the far-right are the chance for Bruna to beat the athlete, with 1 being basically impossible, 5 being somewhat 50/50 (as far as I could guess) and 10 being 'easy' :p 

 

Everyone under 100 FIS points isn't realistic so I'm not gonna check them any further, but I'll look at the Koreans, Slovaks, couple of Ukrainians and the other Mongolian later :p

I was rather busy during most of the awards season, so I wasn't able to see as much as I wanted to, or normally would have been able to.       Once again here I am with my annual Oscar predictions post. Last year I predicted 13/23 winners which was my worst results ever by far. For the second consecutive year Brazil is nominated so I'm hoping that 'The Secret Agent' wins something, especially because it's a film from my home state. I watched 34 out of the 35 feature films (only 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' missing) and all 15 short films nominated, so I leave a personal ranking of all the categories.   ["will win" is my prediction / "could win", my alternate prediction / "should win", my personal ranking / "shoud have been nominated", a way to remember other notable work].

      I don't know how soon that'll be though... and until then not holding my breath. Really wanted to see Caissie crushing balls at the Olympics, he deserved it for his play this tournament, and now he might not get the opportunity to. He's still young, but this will probably be Canada's best chance, and he'll only be around for Brisbane 2032 at best considering the bids in contention for 2036.    It just sucks, constant disappointment for the Canadians this year with barely anything to cheer for, and coming so close only to come up short... I'd rather us have just lost in the group stage

      I think instead of allocating 2 spots here (for Americas) WBSC should have allowed 3 spots (rather than 2) in the 2027 WBSC premiere. ( 1 each for Asia, Europe & Americas)   That way it would have ensured two things : ONLY the top team from Americas gets the quota here ( deservedly so) additionally it would have allowed teams from Americas a second shot at qualification from the 2027 premieres.    Getting only 1 tournament , more than 2 years ahead of olympics is very harsh on the teams from Americas.
