Wow, 15-year old Zonta van den Goorbergh has signed a Moto2 contract for next year :yikes:

I can't see how that is not way too early, considering he's not really making waves in the junior Moto3 yet...

Looks like a strategic way to avoid FIM's decision of raising the age limit to 18 from next season? Either sigh him now or wait three years?

Quite a day today. In the EWC, the 24 hours of Spa-Francorchamps starts at 13:00, while for the first time since 2019 we're racing at the Isle of Man :cheer:

After a week full of qualifying, today we start at 13:00 (CET) with the first Superbike race, followed by the first Sidecar race at 16:00 (CET). The Superbike race is going to be a matter of seeing whether or not Peter Hickman either makes a mistake or has a mechanical issue, otherwise he'll win. Dean Harrison and Davey Todd are ready to pick it up if he drops the ball, with Conor Cummins, Michael Dunlop and John McGuiness - among others - needing all three of the favourites to meet with some kind of misfortune. The sidecar race is going to be a dominant show by the Birchall's, unless their bike breaks.

Whoa! Someone actually watches speedway? Even in Poland where we have the allegedly strongest league in the world this sport is only followed in cities where the teams are based. Nobody give a hoot about it elsewhere.

Hint: I don't follow speedway other than flipping through channels when it's on. We even have TV coverage for third tier matches (which is the lowest) and teams from Germany actually compete there (a team from Latvia is in the second tier IIRC).

I used to take a look at it quite often on Eurosport, many years ago (at least 10-15 I think), but nowadays it just really can't keep me interested anymore even though Eurosport has tons and tons of it to watch :p

I think I stopped watching when I noticed that overtakes almost never happened. No idea if that's gotten better though.

I watched it live in person many times, basically my grandpa used to race in his days and then stayed involved and got me into it (as a spectator...). But it's a matter of 3, maybe 4 small towns in the whole country, the rest obviously don't care at all. Never watched it much on tv though.

British Superbikes rider Chrissy Rouse passed away this week, after a crash in Donington last Sunday.

Today things went very wrong at the Supersport 300 race in Portimão. Title contender (be it mostly mathematically) Victor Steeman was involved in a crash and apparently got hit. He has been transported by helicopter to the local hospital and remains in critical condition.

And what everyone feared has been announced: Steeman has passed away, aged 22

    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
    • In Rome, it would be useful to roof the swimming pool complex at Foro Italico, possibly with the option of retracting the roof and covering the tennis court complex. Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA

    • impossible, there are not enough venues in both towns and I mean, Milan doesn't have an Olympic Stadium, a decent Tennis Complex and a big Swimming Complex (not to mention the sea) Rome, on the other hand, doesn't have a Rowing/Canoeing Basin nor arenas and stadiums for the team sports beyond football and rugby there's no chance that all those venues would be built from scratch, meanwhile if we use both cities we already have almost everything we need, especially the most expensive and controversial sites

She wasn’t a top-tier athlete in that program anymore. She was at the end of her career. I would personally would rather race against Katie. She’s not as competitive as the other athletes,” he said. “It’s probably really unfair to say and not really where I want to go with this but that’s where we are with that.”   Uhlaender: “If I were Canada, I would be concerned in how this coach is representing the Olympic values for his country,” Uhlaender told Fox News Digital. “He hurt a whole field of athletes, all with dreams, and this sends the message that they don’t matter unless they are number one. All athletes matter, and we all deserve to compete fairly, with integrity, and respect. He did not respect anyone in that field. “This is not about my resume or how good the athletes were in the race. This is about the fact that he intentionally manipulated the competition to hurt myself and 13 other countries because he felt it necessary to eliminate all possibility. That is against the spirit of sport and not what the Olympic movement represents.”   Isn't it great when other people's dirty laundry is aired?  /sarcasm     (I was a little surprised to see NPR pick this up, but per this article, Uhlaender preemptively recorded the phone call after receiving a text from Cecchini that said he had 'bad news' for her.)
