Kämna really is in awesome shape this year, finally :d

He was trash until yesterday and still isn’t at his best (from the Dauphine). Hopefully he will be able to take Buchmann‘s place in a couple of years.

Brilliant long-term chess strategy, masterful use of their pawns & the ones that look like horses.

They are playing 4d chess while the rest is playing checkers ... just like Johnson with his Brexit strategy.

Maybe he was modeling what not to do for the younger riders :p

If that was the idea ... then his teammates didn’t do a very good job. They seem to have imitated him too well by doing absolutely nothing for the last 2 weeks.

Edit: This also reminds me of a question Someone asked on german Television a couple of days ago after Buchmann lost a lot of time:

“So will Buchmann just ride along like a tourist from on?“

Answer by the German tv expert:

“Maybe you should try to ride a stage like that before you call him a tourist“

It was quite funny, you almost got the impression that the guy (on his couch at home) saw it as a personal insult that Buchmann wasn’t able to do any better.

Bob Jungels couldn’t have taken Higuita out more effectively if he’d used a samurai sword.  :hyper:

Although one can hardly say it's Jungels fault. If anything, it's Higuita's own fault, but I'd rather say it's a 'race incident' or just bad luck.

Interesting... So it's that easy to take a rival out of the race and get away with it? :p

Just ask Cavendish, Bouhanni, Sagan, Bouhanni, Groenewegen, Bouhanni, Renshaw or Bouhanni :p

    • I am assuming the FIS will fight very hard to keep it.   From a substainability standpoint it also really doesn’t make that much sense to axe Nordic combined as long as ski jumping is in the games anyway. For the same reason that all three sliding sports are basically a package that will live and die together.

    • I can’t see it being kept. Unless some very important  people have asked for it.
    • First event at the World juniors (team events) had 6 nations win medals.
    • I hope they keep it. Even though the sport doesn't exist in Slovakia at all, it's still very exciting to watch.
    • will miss this stage because of the Middle East war, since the flights with Qatar Airways have been cancelled and can't be replaced in time (especially for the bicycles)
