FIFA continue they politics in Africa.

FIFA has suspended the Sudan Football Association (SFA) amid a chaotic battle for footballing power in the East African country.

In April, the sport's world governing body suspended the elections of the SFA for six months following fears of political interference.

According to Xinhua, a letter from FIFA stated that a decision was taken following correspondence with the SFA and the emergence of a video which allegedly showed a candidate admitting intentions to run for Government office, something FIFA does not allow.

It was also reported in allafrica that police were forced to intervene in a conflict between supporters of Mutasim Gafaar, the FIFA-recognised President of the SFA, and an opposition group at the organisation's headquarters in Khartoum.

Members then reportedly moved to the Khartoum Football Stadium, where the group held alternative elections in which they appointed a new committee of seven members.

Tarig Atta Saleh, a SFA member, claimed at the time that the governing body would inform FIFA of the events and the pressure placed on members of the Election Commission to hold separate elections.

In a statement today, FIFA said: "The suspension will be lifted only once the decree of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice of June 2, 2017 is declared null and void and the Board of Directors of the SFA with its President, Mutasim Gaafar, is reinstated."

On June 27, FIFA secretary general Fatma Samoura reportedly said in a letter to the SFA that her organisation would impose a suspension if certain measures were not met by June 30.

Following its suspension, the SFA loses all its membership rights as defined in article 13 of the FIFA Statutes.

The country's national team or club sides are no longer entitled to take part in international competitions until the suspension is lifted.

This also means that neither the SFA nor any of its members or officials may benefit from any development programmes, courses or training from FIFA or the Confederation of African Football.

Second day in group A of CONCACAF 2017 Gold Cup, saw a couple of draws. Good result for Canada, who also can boast having current goal leader.

Now Canada and Costa Rica only need a draw in their next matches to advance into QF's.

20-year old Abdelhak Nouri of Ajax collapsed last Saturday during a friendly against Werder Bremen in Austria (which was live on TV). At first it looked like he sat down and maybe had troubles with the heat, but he stayed down, medical personall treated him for a long time (including CPR) before he was airlifted by helicopter to the Innsbruck hospital.

The first messages Saturday and Sunday were that they were keeping him in an artificial coma, but he was out of serious danger. Moments ago though, Ajax published a statement saying Nouri has very serious and most likely permanent brain damage :(

Nicolas Gorosito Argentinian born central defender of Getafe (ESP) announced that he want play for Slovakia :d

If he´ll be called by our NT coach he would be the 3rd naturalized player in our football NT in history after Karim Guede (Togo - played 14 matched for SVK https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karim_Guédé) and another Argentinian David Depetris (played as forward 2 matches including the 0-0 against Gibraltar - as the majority of this team he never was called after anymore :dhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Depetris)

    • Earlier today, Taiwan beat the USA    Of course it's car from the best US tram but it's still a big deal for Taiwanese baseball
    • And even here we lose to France? I really don't know what's the point of organizing the Olympics if you can't make progress in practically any sport. France has the Olympics in 2030 and there they will definitely prepare 100%, just like for Paris. We can't do that. It's obvious that in ski jumping we have no chance of winning medals, but decency dictates that we should at least win here with a France like that.
    • There is no snow in Lillehammer
    • Finally the ski jumping season begins 11 teams in the (real) mixed team competition, no Switzerland.
    • Most of our athletes are constantly bothered by something: the pressure to qualify, the miss of pressure when they have already qualified, etc. It's the same in football: at the beginning of the season they are a poor form becouse of a little played and at the end of the season they are tired. They are always looking for excuses. A real champion always plays at a high level, like Sinner, and doesn`t look for 1000 excuses for his poor performance.
    • Think it is mentally difficult for the two teams with the Olympic place guaranteed and the pressure off, whereas everyone else is absolutely playing at 110%.  I'm sure things will be better once they get to Milan.
    • There's no point in cheating, these were terrible European Championships for us. Retronaz out of form, Constantini with a huge number of big mistakes. Only illness can excuse it... We've probably lost the last 10 matches with Switzerland... It looks like Constantini had the tournament of her life in mixed doubles in 2022 in Beijing and she will never reach this level again.
    • What good is it to us if we took 4th place and lost an important match? If Constantini was sick, I forgive her, but I'm afraid that the Italian team will not exceed a certain level. Yes, they have made progress since 2022, but they lack that one decisive step to become a class team. Here we lost all important matches with teams at our/higher level: Sui x2, Sco x2, Swe. We only won with the one we were supposed to win with. I don't believe in a medal for this team in Cortina. After 2022, it seemed that Constantini could dominate women's curling, but it didn't happen that way. After Sinner's recent successes, I opened my eyes a bit and started to demand more from our athletes, coaches, and officials. I have no intention of being satisfied with 4th place, because with this approach, you won't achieve anything great.
    • play their best, but only get 1, so  get bronze 6-4!
    • Oh dear, once again a 50% shot from Constantini when she needed 100%.   blank the end & go into the 10th with the Hammer of Thor.
