Alpine Skiing 2016 - 2017 Discussion Thread

too high starting number for Petra. I expected something around 35-40. :( She is supposed to attack the higher places this season also in Giant Slalom, but she will need to improve her starting numbers soon as possible :(

He could indeed just say "wait, you are injured? Ok then, I will not compete while you are injured." I'm sure the Neureuther's and Svindal's of this world would definitely do that and sit out competitions when their rivals are injured yes_new.gif

That's not "vulturing", that's just bad luck for the others. There's quite a huge difference between the two things. Unless Hirscher went to them and hit them with an iron bar to injure them or something, but I doubt that happened.

I'm just explaining the asterisks that the result books don't show. :p

Well if we would do that with every victory of everyone in every sport, we'd have to make a full-time job out of it :p

Staying fit is part of sports as well, I have no doubt that his rivals are a bit more sportsmanlike and don't feel like he stole the titles :d

Adriana Jelinkova to represent the Netherlands again, her 9th WC and hopefully this season she'll have more than the 2 and 1 of the last two seasons :p

By the way, look at Team Switzerland :yikes:

Camille Rast - 1999

Melanie Meillard - 1998

Aline Danioth - 1998

Those last two have already shown a huge amount of talent at the international stage, especially Danioth, so this should be interesting to follow this season :cheer:

The German talent Katrin Hirtl-Stanggassinger will be making her WC-debut tomorrow, very interesting name as well.

    • I hope they can kick teqball and convince the North Koreans to play the real deal  (very unlikely, I know(   Obstacle racing on the other hand, it should be a compulsory sport of the ABG

    • Oops. I must have misunderstood. I could have sworn I saw her jogging in a field of other men. I assumed she had caught up to some of the slower men. (I admittedly wasn't watching closely.)
    • The women started earlier, it was a race without any men participating.
    • Looking forward to this competition starting tomorrow! Will be nice to see some other countries participate. USA women start with Namibia tomorrow.
    • This came out on the official website yesterday. Updated list of events and competition schedules in Japanese.   Padel and Teqball are on the schedules. Looks like two events for Padel and five for Teqball.   https://www.aichi-nagoya2026.org/files/common/260427競技スケジュール/01_日本語/01_アジア/第20回アジア競技大会競技プログラム.pdf   https://www.aichi-nagoya2026.org/files/common/260427競技スケジュール/01_日本語/01_アジア/第20回アジア競技大会デイリースケジュール.pdf   https://www.aichi-nagoya2026.org/files/common/260427競技スケジュール/01_日本語/01_アジア/第20回アジア競技大会セッションスケジュール.pdf   On the sports programme PDF, Padel is #25 and Teqball is #38.
    • looks like the agreement is the international federations are in fact hosting the event, not the AG organizers, so everything is up to them to make it happen.   Teqball is now confirmed to have 5 events (singles and doubles) does it mean easy 5 gold medals for Thailand ?   Padel is not 100% confirmed yet. I assume there are still talks ongoing between the IF and the Japanese organizers.
    • I feel like this year's Eurovision is more wide open than ever 😂   There isn't a clear favorite, and that makes everything more exciting. Finland is looking strong, sure, but Ukraine always knows how to surprise people and connect with them. I was checking out the odds a bit, and I was struck by how quickly they're rising.   By the way, I found a site that compares the odds pretty clearly: https://casasdeapuestaseurovision.com/   It’s nothing special, but it gives you an idea of how things are shaping up before the semifinals. Although we all know how this goes… at Eurovision, everything can change in a matter of minutes
