@MHSN you think Mexican wrestler has a good shot at bronze against the one from Egypt?

hard to say since we can't see anything :d but If I had to make a prediction now I would expect Mexico to win the bronze. he is Pan American Champion after all.

The system of naming in Iran is exactly the same as western countries. only first name and surname (which comes from father). nothing from the mother's family name

BUT sometimes surnames are more than one part. in this case people only and only use the first part because the second part is usually something uncommon and weird for example in this case. you can't find even one report in Iran mention him as Hajlari or Bohloulzadeh-hajlari. he is just Bohloulzade (there should be a H at the end too) probably his grand grand father comes from a village "Hajlar"

Iranians didn't use surnames like some other middle eastern countries (Pakistan for example) but almost 100 years ago the former king of Iran (Reza Shah) trying to westernize Iran forced everybody to pick a surname. and most people also put their village/town at the end of their surnames. this is only used for official documents . people NEVER use that in their normal life. of course there are some exceptions . some people prefer to use the 2nd part of their surnames. but in 99% cases this is just the first part.

Thank you for the explanation.  It was really comprehensive.

And as a side note, the International Gymnastics Federation is quite pleased with Bouhlouzadeh as a picture with him on the podium is on the front page of their website (and here is the link to the full article about yesterday's finals).

:d Thanks for the answer... cross my fingers now; a good measure is that he didn't get crushed by the Russian, but again I don't know too much about this sport, except that we've improved a little in greco thanks to Cuban coaches.

our wrestling team is a total trash , so he has a chance ofc , but i think our wrestler will win :d

I really don't think so. you were a bit unlucky here. your 45kg wrestler was very unlucky with the draw. he could win a medal if he was in other group. and your 92kg wrestler was unlucky as well that UWW awarded wild card (or whatever else you can call it) to Turkey ! and from what I heard there were controversial calls in that TUR-EGY match. that could be a silver for Egypt.

and even today your 65kg freestyle almost beat our wrestler :d the final score was just 6-5 ! we will see what you can do in 110kg bronze medal match but losing 10-0 to Zare is not a disaster. Zare is a monster. "experts" in Iran already consider him a huge talent.

:yes you are weclmoe and btw here is his instagram page

thanks I just read that. he had every right to be extremely happy. this medal was completely unexpected . if I had to make a list of our medal chance here. I would put Gymnastics at the bottom of it.

we also had a 4th place finish (also in pommel horse) at the Asian Games. so maybe they are improving a bit in this sport (or at least in pommel horse :d  ) btw Gymnastics is the only Olympic sport in Iran (or probably the only sport but I'm not sure) with a woman as the president for the federation.

they didn't do anything also in cadet WCH , i don't think this's just a bad luck in the draw

    • It may also be that Ceccerelli saw that the conditions in the Italian youth teams were very poor and that is why she insisted on setting up her own team (the results of young Italian skiers unfortunately confirm this). A private team will always be better than a team with 10-12 skiers with max. 3-4 coaches, a one doctor and a physiotherapist. Colturi is the only skier in her team and she has several coaches, a masseur, a doctor etc. Of course, it costs money, but since the parents are famous and have money + Red Bull got involved. I don't understand why she can't start for Italy again? Red Bull should care more that Colturi starts in Cortina under the Italian flag than the Albanian one + Red Bull, as a brand, always has a bigger sales market in Italy with a population of 60 million than in small Albania. I hope that this can still be reversed by next year. For this we need talks between the federation + Colturi's parents + Red Bull + possibly the Italian Olympic Committee. Colturi may be a skier equal to Brignone or even better in the future. We can't lose her, so we have to do now!
    • I`m very disappointed with this weekend. Only becouse of Ghiotto form I`m happy. Unfortunately, the women's team will not function well if Lollobrigida skips most of the training camps and Fontana starts alternately in short tack and long track. It will end with her not winning any medals here or there, because it`s already clear that it will be very difficult to achieve good results in long track. I hope that she understands this, because in short track she has a real chance of winning medals in the women's relay and the mixed relay but in long track not.
    • Tragic performance of the Italian women's team - last place and probably something bad happened at the start. There are so few starts in the team that it will be a problem to even qualify for the World Championships - 8 best teams. After Lollobrigida's return and Fontana's addition, I was counting on much more, but it seems that there are too few joint trainings. With individual quality, we have no right to lose to the Czechs without Sablikova, or anonymous Korea. And unfortunately this start will count for a lot, because there are only 2 more and our chances of playing at the World Championships are minimal. In my opinion with Fontana going from Short Track to Long Trackand vice versa, we won't be much use in the team. Here great teamwork is needed, not improvisation. As of today, there is very little chance that we will qualify the women's team for the games.
    • men advanced to Division A for the first time since 2018 (when they went 1-8). Don't expect much progress next year
    • Ok, but there we are talking about a person who has parents from different countries. Colturi has nothing to do with Albania.
    • There are few people here from Austria, Switzerland, Norway and Finland.
    • The worst editions in XXI century for us were Vancouver: 5 medals (only 1 gold for Razzoli's on the penultimate day) and Sochi: 8 medals (but no gold). Turin was already a prelude to this bad period, although the number of gold medals was ok. Overall we won fewer medals at home than in 2002 and this was probably the only case in the 21st century when the host country won fewer medals at home than 4 years earlier, either in summer or winter. In general the years 2008-2016 were very bad in our sport, both in summer and winter. Only 2018 in Korea was a slight rebuild + 2 fantastic summer editions in Tokyo and Paris. in Beijing 2022 we won a lot of medals - 17 but only 2 gold (If it weren't for Gogga's injury, I think it would have been 4 gold).
