Nbc doing it here and for the most part its awesome because they show literally everything live except maybe ceremony.  Most events are also available on demand right after.  However the big issue is that the main sports sometimes are not available for on demand until after the primetime broadcast in the evening.   So any country offering immediate playback features for every event that i can get through a vpn

i heard that you have to give the cable subscription number to watch live streams ?...true ?

Olympics is a huge event & hence I have a feeling that youtube will be showing live streaming of each & every sport throughout each day & won't have geolocation restriction. So don't think anyone would need to use proxy/vpn browser extension

This would be great but I'm not sure that the national tv channels - that acquire the expensive broadcast rights - would be happy with that... :mumble:

Here our national public tv channel (RTP) will broadcast some of the sports (usually it's available on their stream playerRTP PLAY), but the full 24/7 live sports broadcaster is a paid tv channel, SPORT TV, which I guess would loose a lot of ratings if their shown content were available on youtube....

Italian public TV, RAI, announced that they will have, together with a 3-channel TV coverage*, a full set of up to 36 streamings in High Def (720p, I guess) at the same time (some of them with Italian commentary, some others just with environmental sound) available via their website (www.rai.tv)...

of course, there's a very high chance that people outside Italy would need a VPN to have access to it...

those 3 channels (rai2, raisport1 & 2) are available to the European audience via satellite on Hotbird @ 13 East (rai2 also on Astra @ 19.2 East), but of course they are encrypted, so you need a TivuSat smart card to view them (that card is normally for Italian viewers only, but it can be found on e-bay and some Sat TV material resellers over the internet also for all the people around the World)...

I don;t think so. The countries where rights are held will most certainly be geoblocked.

Yes but you can access BBC with just hola unblocker - this is because I presume they are a national player and are free to view but some of the TV players like NBC i believe you cannot access their live streams even with geo unlocking because you need a paid subscription to see them ?? ...not fully sure about this as I have never used nbc

If I am not wrong, YouTube showed live streaming of Commonwealth Games 2014 held at Glasgow & was a huge success. So why not Rio Olympics?

Google has enough money to buy out the online live streaming rights & I feel they will do it by end of this month.

It is the best way to prevent piracy & people from using proxy sites which IOC would find it reasonable.

With the current generation leading a hectic life & won't have access to TV (while in office), YouTube would be the ideal choice for them

Coverage by Croatian television will be bad as usual, looking at the schedule for the first few days...

There are so many replays in schedule. Ok, replays can be fine but these are not fine because:

a) a lot of the replays are actually the replays of events that they broadcasted live

b) most of the replays will actually be put during the time when other live competitions are being held

London 2012 coverage was like a dream with Eurovision sports TV, which allowed watching anything you like. Perhaps that's why I have such a bad memories of Sochi. Apart from few sports that our television showed, I basically had to rely on bad quality streams (yes, I didn't use VPNs then). And on top of that I missed so much because of school...

Eurovision sports TV is again not broadcasting so I'm getting worried that I won't be able to watch even equestrian without some VPN. Olympics should be available to everyone (yes, even those whose host broadcasters are horrible).

    • 2 things...   first, for what concerns the cooperation between inline skating and speedskating federations...sorry to disppoint some of you, but there's a great cooperation between them   the point is that many "summer" skaters just don't want to try the ice because they have too much to give up for that   you name places like Collalbo or Baselga, but for the "summer skating" guys from centeral and southern regions it's not an option, it's not that they make it for a living with those disciplines, they have to focus on their studies and build a post-competitive sport career and they just can't place themselves into a hole in the mountains when they maybe are studying in some prestigious universities in the big cities   as I already posted more than once, the idea of covering one of those tracks in the mountains was something idiotic, a political concession impossible to be sustained   the one and only chance to build a true legacy and an efficient, attractive national training center was to build a permanent indoor oval in Milan, beside the Forum   that would have given all the "summer skaters" a true opportunity to try the ice experience and at the same time find the most useful, attractive, prestigious places to continue their studies and try and manage them together with their sports career   any other place wouldn't stand a chance   second...don't give Salvini any credit he doesn't deserve...actually, I think he doesn't even know that in Cortina there's a sliding sports track    it's not thanks to him that the Cortina track's building finally went underway
    • c'mon, guys! relax! sciallatevi un po'!    you're making me sick...it's just the season start and this is a sport where only the world championship (and Olympic, in the specific years) medals count   don't get mad for a couple of races held thousend miles away from home after the team had already passed their first climax (the internal selection)...there are still 2 full seasons before the Olympics
    • Super Round Results   21/11    b.   2-0  b.   9-1   22/11    b.   8-2  b.   9-6   nothing is decided yet, all teams still have a thoretical chance to make the Gold Medal match   Tomorrow, the last day of the Super Round sees  facing the  at Noon local time (4 a.m. CET) and  facing  at 7 p.m. local time (11 a.m. CET)   the medal games are scheduled for Sunday, BMM at Noon local, GMM at 7 p.m. local
    • very poor performance by the US bullpen both Yesterday and Today    not very impressed by this US team for the entire tournament, also in the Mexican first group (Panama deserved to qualify more than them, but they were lucky with the draw and won the decisive direct matchup)   Venezuela confirmed themselves as a very strong team at bat, but with too many troubles on the mound   Today against Japan they had to make a pitching change already in the 1st inning and basically they had to go for a bullpen game, but it didn't come out like the Dodgers'   Japan always on top of their game, even when the pitching staff doesn't perform at best...frankly, they look more and more unbeatable when no MLB superstar is involved (like in this case), but also when it comes down to the top of the pops it's not that they look worse (see 2023 WBC)  there's a serious risk that their domination becomes even too easy, the gap between them and the rest of the world is widening year after year   Taiwan might look like a surprise, but after the 2023 fail, I was sure they were going to rebound and establish themselves among the top teams in the WBSC tournaments, as they are very good in each and every aspect of the game (batting, pitching...maybe a bit less on defense, but you can't have it all)
