Shouldn't the achievements of the GDR be incorporated into actual: Germany, just like the USSR into Russia?

Nope

And what about the official sources? Russia certainly took over the achievements of the USSR, but what about the DDR? That state didn't disappear, but its resources were taken over by present-day Germany- many athletes competed under both flags.

For the IOC, they are different, so the medal table is adjusted accordingly. Obviously, it is a private database, so it is not entirely reliable at an official level, but the data is correct.

Hmm, but there's a rule that Russia took over the medals of the USSR, not Ukraine or Belarus. As for the DDR, I have no idea. In theory, the entire DDR, RFN and current Germany's medal tally after 1990 should be added and reported as all. Otherwise, we have a situation where a country disappeared after the 1988 Olympics.

Germany should compile all variations beside GDR. During that time FRG was the official successor of unified Germany, while GDR was a run-away country. Plus having 2 German teams was an unfair advantage, as they had double the chances to compete in sports.

If Catalonia left Spain and competed in 3 Olympics before reuniting again with Spain, the medals won in those 3 Olympics we wouldn't count as Spanish, because at that time they were an independent country.

Russia is correctly inheriting the USSR lineage, as well as all the other BS they like to make up like ROC etc., because at the end of the day it is still Russia regardless of the "official naming".
