Taekwondo WT World Championships 2025

4 medals for us, 7 athletes in the Top 8, 2 titles. It was a fantastic tournament for us.

However, despite Brazil's spectacular result, I can only imagine how ugly this sport is. Most fights are decided by one athlete running away for 40 seconds at the end of the match.

I haven't watched Mangione's fights, but I guess @Gianlu33 doesn't like style and attitude of most of our guys, who are always on the defensive side and lose too many matches in the dying seconds of each round

and this is actually a problem, modern taekwondo doesn't allow you to be passive, you always have to push until the end of each round

It's also because of my background. I grew up in a taekwondo school (I had training with Roberto Botta) where we were used to always attacking, following a more aggressive style. But these are different visions of taekwondo.

Alessio won World Champ. gold in 2023 thanks to his defense, from what I remember. Nafia Kus from Turkey also fights quite defensively and she wins a lot.

both parents are from  though, so she can't get the Italian passport until she's 18

 

if only our racist goverment wasn't so stupid, now we would have a ius soli law that would allow our young athletes with parents from another Country to choose  as their true Home

 

right now, they don't have any chance to choose, they have to look for different paths

if he had a better, more positive attitude, now he would have won at least 5 world champs and 2 Olympic gold medals

 

he has the talent to win every match by superiority, but he has never shown that on the mat (except maybe for his first world title, when he won every match very easily without even sweating)

I hope that there will be a chance to get back she on the future.
