Silver: :CIV Kimi Laurene Ossin (not yet 17 :yikes: and she's Italian, lives in :ITA, but she can't compete for us -at least until she gets 18- because of a stupid law:facepalm:)

Any chance she'll stay as :CIV ?

now that she won a world medal also as a senior for them (she already was cadet world champion in 2022), I think she'll stay with :CIV forever, or at least until she has troubles with their federation (which is always a chance with the African Nations)

Brazil is constantly improving in Taekwondo. We usually do well in combat sports, so perhaps in a few more years we can become a powerhouse in that sport and who knows, maybe we can win more than just a bronze medal at the Olympics.

I hope we can also grow in Wrestling someday, but that will take a miracle.

This Iranian won gold, so maybe it was a premature final. Shame. I'm more concerned that, apart from Vito and Alessio, no youngsters are winning medals for us.

    • theocracy = institutionalised murder and khomeini was a brainless butcher; no comparison can ever be made to the former Shah, despite all his flaws. Dictators are not alike, as graveyards around the world can testify...
    • men crash out in the qualifying run of the Men's Team Pursuit after completing just over a Km. Doesn't look like anyone was too badly injured and the team were given a rerun. They clocked a 3:54.365 which will see them qualify for the next round in 6th place.    Not sure what went wrong for the  team - they finished last, with a 4:16.655 which was over 7 seconds slower than  and almost 24 seconds slower than top qualifier     also had a bit of a mare - they were leading through 2km before fading in the second half. 3:56.155 left them in 9th place and they wont progress.

    • Turkey doesn't have democracy right now either- the mayor of Istanbul is imprisoned for Erdogana (exactly like Erdogan once did in the same position). How will this end? Will the government change, just as Erdogan once did when he came to power by winning the 2002 elections? Erdogan probably no longer has real support in the country, but will he relinquish power? Turkey has always been a country that other Arab countries later emulated.
    • Iran's economy before the revolution was OK but not good.   M.R. Pahlavi wasn't the worst dictator in the world but still a dictator and in my book there is no good dictator, they are all bad. and yeah that 1953 coup or what we call 28th Mordad Coup played big role in the current mess. (ironically those responsible for that coup now consider themselves defending democracy) 50 years before that Iran had a revolution called "Constitutional Revolution" to limit the king's (Shah) power massively and creating the parliament, that coup was essentially the end of that era, completely destroying the parliament and giving 100% power to the king.    if you rule a big country like Iran for something like 40 years, you start to believe you are the God himself, that was the problem with A. Khameneyi too.   btw at the time of revolution nobody knew he was dealing with cancer, that was revealed later.

    • So basically a Granada / Štrbské Pleso 2015 situation, or just straight up one without including other (snow or ice)?   I haven't seen the memo myself.
    • FISU has sent a note to member federations saying for the 2029 Winter Universiade, bids can be just for the snow events or Ice events, if interested parties decide to go that route.
