Skeleton at the Winter Olympic Games Milano Cortina 2026

Recommended Posts

The circus goes on.

The IOC annuled accreditation of Herskevych to make him leave the Olympic village.

The IOC reinstated accreditation of Herskevych - so he can stay at the Games.

TAS/CAS to follow and... it turned out that the IOC disqualified Herskevych BEFORE the start when he did not wear the helmet.

So there was no violation by the moment of disqualification.

Poor decision from IOC to DQ the :UKR racer. His gesture was not political but in remembrance for his friends whom he has lost ! How is that political and against olympic charter?? I am sure CAS will overturn this decision . Shameful how rotten the top leadership of such important international sports organization has become.  If anything I feel it is IOC who is making a politically motivated decision here!

The IOC know who is hosting the games in 2028. This is just them getting ready for having to bow much of whatever Trump demands while extraditing some wins like FIFA are doing.

Great respeect for him! Our top sport media quoted his words.

So let me summarize where we are now. Some important news came.

-----------------------

1. Official appeal on DSQ of Herskevych was registered by TAS/CAS.

It is attached below.

2. He demands full resinstatement.

But as provisional measure he expects to have official run pending final decision.

3. The appeal was filed at 16:30. TAS/CAS must be urgent so even with full 24 hours he has time for 2 runs before the evening session.

4. We have a precedent of re-run at this Olympics in speed skating. But within the same day.

5. There was a precedent of re-run at the next day at the Athletics world championship 2025.

South Africa got a re-run the next day and their time was compared to the time of France from the previous day.

So we have a prcedent when the different day and conditions were no problem

6. I do not know what TAC/CAS will decide - I am not a lawyer. According to some oppinions it is 50/50.

7. Heraskevych was DSQ before wearing the helmet at the event. So formally he did not violate anything.

8. In total 3 helmets of Ukrainian athletes were banned.

9. Accoding to our media Ukrainian athletes showing their support to Herashevych are getting warnings.

10. Coventry just wanted to save her face during the morning meeting - she was ready to allow to show the helmet before and after the runs. But not to run wearing it.

It is an absolute absurd. If they see this message as violation it does not metter when it is shown.

11. The IOC thrown Vlad out of the Games and then gave him accreditation back. So now he is there.

* * *

The IOC created a wild chaos under this incompetent leadership.

I do not like Bach but he was clever enough to stop the fire during Kharlan DSQ scandal at world champs.

Coventry and her team used the worth path across these wild waters.

What if TAS/CAS allow Vlad to compete?

I see the only really fair way. His results must be taken into account but not shift the others in the standings.
So he must share the place with someone. For example, if he shows the 3rd result in total, it meand that 2 bronze medals must be awarded.

Maybe you can see other options which are fair enough

    • Also it being illegal in France means the IOC will have to test everyone pre arriving at 2030 and can’t wait till they arrive at the Games to do so. I’m sure at 2028 for some sports testing will happen on site if it’s not a rule of its governing body for non Olympic events. So far only a few sports like Athletics and Boxing have that rule - I suspect others will adopt it but others might take time.
    • https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/articles/cpwj78lxypro ‘In France - one of a number of countries where genetic testing is illegal without a medical prescription due to privacy laws - the government has condemned the decision as "a step backwards". "It defines the female sex without taking into account the biological specificities of intersex individuals, whose sexual characteristics present natural variations, leading to a reductive and potentially stigmatising approach," claimed French Sports Minister Marina Ferrari.”   ‘A group of legal experts in human rights and sports have since expressed, external"urgent concern" about what they called "the regressive move toward genetic testing as a precondition of participation in women's sport" which they say "violate domestic and international laws that protect human rights and regulate the use of genetic testing and genetic information".  The group has called on athletes "to challenge the national or regional implementation of mandatory genetic sex testing, demanded by the IOC or international federations, before domestic courts, by invoking national or regional laws protecting human rights, prohibiting anti-discrimination, and regulating the use of genetic testing and genetic data".’   Domestic laws are more challenging for the IOC to deal with than CAS. Things could get complicated for a bit.
    • Except NOC’s and governing bodies have to still follow local laws. Particularly for Under 18’s there could certainly be domestic legal issues regarding associations paying for travel to other counties to circumvent a domestic ban. Child protection services don’t always act reasonable to attempts to break a domestic law.
