Conditions really weren't that great for track records yesterday though, he had a more than excellent race.

Maybe, but he won with the smallest margin in 10 km in 2 years. I think, that since the 2023 World Championships, he has always won with a margin of more than 10 seconds. I simply expect more from Ghiotto than from Lollobrigida. Ghiotto's victories have become the norm in a sense and Francesca was a great surprise. Especially since her favourite distance is 3 km and mass start, not 5 km.

Lollo's victory in the 5 km was like for me a first date:) I haven't been this happy in a long time. Ghiotto's another golds in 10 km are just like an old good marriage, but without that wow effect

And that's why it's never nice when someone is so dominant....wins always become 'normal' and anything else is disappointing, leading to no result ever being 'nice' anymore :p

Just like Sven Kramer some times ago:lol: Generally, it's good to have a few sure gold medalist so that the situation in medal table is OK, but then there's no need to even watch it, for example yesterday at one point I didn't even want to watch Ghiotto, I just wanted to check the results later.

I remember I was very happy when Fabris won gold in Turin 2006 in the 1500 meters. He also started slowly and everyone had a big advantage over him before the last lap and everyone was losing time: Davis, Wennemars, Hedrick etc.

Giovannini revealed that Ghiotto ran the 10,000 having lost a contact lens at the start and was losing his second lens in the race :hairpull:

Yeah, but that was entirely expected. Nobody thought Fabris was losing it, considering the last lap was his big weapon every single time. Like in the women's 5k Beune generally starts super fast and Conijn often finishes very fast, which in the end means sometimes one is faster, sometimes the other.

Sure gold medals don't exist, by now we should all know that I think :d

Which is good, because the more sure a gold medal is, the less interesting it is to watch and as sports fans, I assume in the end we mostly watch to see exciting competitions.

That's why I like Wilkund, because she's so human: she doesn't dominate and she often has human crises. In addition, she's a beautiful woman.
