Cricket Discussion | Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 Road to LA 2028

T20 World Cup qualification :cheer:

Third day of matches, finally without rain. Jersey beat Guernsey very comfortably in the inter-island derby.

In the big match of the tournament, Scotland literally demolished the Netherlands. Tomorrow Italy will start the real tournament, playing against Scotland pending the possible decisive match against Netherlands.

ITALY DEFEATED SCOTLAND!!! :hyper:

Italy virtually qualified unless they lose heavily against Netherlands. Will you be traveling to India if Italy qualifies

Huge upset.

Italy is in a great position to qualify to the World Cup. Nice to see another viable nation in the sport

Is it really such a shock though? More than half the Italian team have played professionally in England or Australia.

Funny thing is that there seems to be a different Italian national team, this time consisting of Asian ex-pats and playing in the European T10 competitions,

Yes, there are two different national teams. The first is made up of Italian immigrants in English-speaking countries, the second is made up of Pakistani and Bangladeshi immigrants and primarily plays in T10 competitions. The idea is to expand the base in Italy with second-generation Italians.

Jersey beat Scotland by 1 wicket off the last ball of the 20 overs. So nearly a tie.

That's means that if Italy will defeat Netherlands (quite unlikely), both Italy and Jersey will qualify for World Cup. Would be ad huge shock for European Associated Cricket

Jersey were playing this tournament without their best player who was refused to be released by his English professional team

    • It's hard to believe it was still in this calendar year
    • In last year, we were were happy with Brignone's wins, and today we're excite that della Mea is in the top 10... It's hard to imagine a bigger fall... And Goggia should give up on the giant slalom and focus on the speed events – Vonn isn't wasting time on the giant slalom, but is training for downhill and SG. Goggia last one finished on the podium in the giant slalom in march 2018, and she has no any chance of winning an Olympic medal at the regular competition. It's a waste of time and energy to finish 8th or 9th and risk injury. And we have to accept that without Brignone, we have no chance of winning a medal in the giant slalom in Cortina, and that's it.
    • yeah, just like Anna Trocker earlier Today   I think this is the best way to blow them    they're not ready for the world cup stage yet, but we're so bad right now that our coaches are digging deep
    • Some surprises and fun results so far at this year's Worlds. Like a few minutes ago, when  Harrysson made the 1/8 with another very good performance. Now he plays Jonny Clayton, who this afternoon made a stellar performance in a tough battle with Zonneveld. I don't see an easy match for Clayton, even though on paper he would have wished such an opponent for a 1/8 before the tournament.   Also i'm delighted that my fav Gary Anderson seems to be in good form, though at his age, he is prone to sudden bad matches at any time.
