Głazunow, a finalist in the men's C-1 from Paris, hints changes to the qualification system for the 2028 Games.

Quote

- The qualification regulations for the Olympics have changed and in two years' time we will be competing in all competitions to collect points for the Olympic ranking. That's why this year we also want to rest a bit, recuperate to have strength for these next seasons,’ Glazunov told PAP.

I've said it multiple times, that smaller sports should definitely be adopting a World Cup circuit like FIS does with skiing, or in tennis etc. in order to somehow popularize the sport.

It's always better to have a clear competition system for the athletes, for the fans, for the TVs, to know which are big events, what are the stakes, have some continuity etc.

As for LA28 qualification, let's hope the rankings quotas won't be more than 50% in an event and there are still the direct qualification regattas for people who for some reason couldn't be performing year out.

The Olympic ranking for canoe slalom starts today, with the Asian Championships in China being the first event where athletes can earn points. It carries exactly the same weighting as a World Cup stage. It’s also particularly interesting for European teams, since Asia has virtually a guaranteed spot in K4 and several competitive crews capable of finishing in the top 11.
Does anyone know if there are live results available?

    • New Mountain Bike qualification document published. Again, no substantive changes, just correcting a couple of minor points and fixing a pretty blatant error.   Section D1.1 corrects the ranking lists from 'UCI Road World Ranking by Nation' to 'UCI Mountain Bike Olympic Qualification Ranking'   Other minor formatting changes:    Table header in section B.1. switched from 'Total Quota Places for Discipline' to 'Total Quota Places for Mountain Bike'.   Section D.1.3 table corrected to read 'The 2 highest ranked NOCs in the under-23 race' instead of 'The highest ranked NOCs in the under'23 race'.
